Jennifer Lopez is embracing her new single life after her recent divorce from Ben Affleck. In a candid conversation with comedian Nikki Glaser for Interview Magazine, the 55-year-old superstar opened up about the insights she has gained during her journey of self-exploration and the hurdles of adjusting to life as a single woman.
Published on October 9, the interview highlighted her viewpoints on independence, self-empowerment, and her forthcoming film, Unstoppable.
Jennifer officially filed for divorce from Affleck on August 20, signaling the conclusion of their two-year marriage. While reflecting on the separation, she maintained an optimistic perspective about her newfound singlehood.
“I feel thrilled about the idea of being on my own,”Lopez expressed. “I’m not in search of someone new because, throughout my 25 to 30 years in the industry and various challenging situations, I’m eager to explore what it means to be independent. What if I can just fly free?”she elaborated.

Lopez shared her thoughts on the complexity of truly understanding oneself, which she termed “a lifelong journey.”She underscored that personal evolution is a continuous process, stating:
“What I adore about life is that there’s no final destination. It’s all about improving and evolving if you choose to. It’s either growth or stagnation, and I choose to grow,”she asserted.
The pop icon confessed that despite believing she had everything figured out, life continuously presented her with new lessons.
“There have been moments when I thought I had it all resolved, only for life to challenge me again and test whether I’ve truly learned. And sometimes I hadn’t,”Lopez reflected.
She stressed the significance of self-sufficiency, explaining that she needed to confront her uncomfortable emotions to find true happiness within herself.
“When you confront those emotions and acknowledge that they won’t destroy you, you realize that you can experience joy and happiness entirely on your own. My identity isn’t shaped by being in a relationship,”she insisted.
In addition to her personal insights, Jennifer Lopez discussed her latest project, Unstoppable, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7. The film received a standing ovation during its debut.
Unstoppable recounts the inspiring true story of Anthony Robles, a wrestler born with a disability who went on to win an NCAA national championship. Lopez takes on the role of Judy Robles, Anthony’s mother. The film is slated for release on December 6.
“I felt amazing being there with Judy Robles, the character I portray; it was an incredible experience. I can’t wait for everyone to see it,”Lopez enthused about the film’s response at TIFF.
Despite their divorce, Lopez and Affleck seem to maintain a friendly co-parenting relationship for their children. The two were seen having lunch together on September 14, accompanied by four of their five children: Lopez’s twins, Max and Emme, who are 16, and Affleck’s sons, Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12.
Lopez shares her twins with her ex-husband Marc Anthony, while Affleck’s children are from his marriage to Jennifer Garner.
A source disclosed to People Magazine that both stars are committed to fostering a harmonious atmosphere for their blended family.
“They aim to demonstrate to the kids that things remain cordial. There’s still a lot of affection,”the insider mentioned.
As Lopez continues to navigate her journey, she places a strong emphasis on personal development and independence. With Unstoppable set to debut in December, Jennifer Lopez is stepping into a hopeful new chapter in her life, both personally and artistically.
