Jason Kelce to WWE gains momentum as wrestling behemoth reaches out to retired Eagles star ahead of WrestleMania 40

Although it seemed as though Jason Kelce’s days as an athlete were over, fans of the former Philadelphia Eagles center now have renewed hope that they will see him in action on national television once more.

According to a tweet from Fightful Select reporter Sean Ross Sapp, the WWE reached out to the former star center. While there were rumors that he would pursue a career in media after his time in the NFL, it appears that he now has a new opportunity with the WWE.

Following one of the WWE’s stars commenting on the possibility, news has emerged. TMZ reports that The Miz had discussed the chance of seeing Kelce step into the ring in late March.

It is not uncommon for former NFL players to transition to the world of professional wrestling. Dwayne “The Rock”Johnson, after a brief time in the NFL, made the move to the WWE. Similarly, Le’Veon Bell pursued a career in boxing after his time in the NFL came to an end.

Despite being in his mid-30s, Jason Kelce is still young enough to handle a physical workload. This suggests that while he may no longer be competing at the highest level in football, he could still take on the challenge of WrestleMania.

Despite the assumption that Jason Kelce’s appearance at WrestleMania 40 would be his first in a sports setting since retiring from the NFL, the center has already made an appearance in front of large crowds of fans.

On March 30th, as the MLB season began, Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox of the Philadelphia Eagles were chosen by Today to throw out ceremonial first pitches for the Philadelphia Phillies. Some argued that Jason, despite being retired, outperformed his brother Travis, who threw a first pitch at a Cleveland Guardians game in April 2023.

Jason’s pitch may not have been a perfect strike, but it was a decent ball. In contrast, Travis’ throw fell way short of the home plate, landing on the grass and bouncing towards the catcher.

Although Jason may have come out on top in the pitching comparison, Travis Kelce’s future in the NFL is still being determined. Jason retired at the age of 36, while Travis is currently 34 years old and has approximately two seasons remaining before he can claim the title of oldest retirement in his family. This achievement would add to his victory over Jason in the Super Bowl.
