Jason Kelce talks about weight loss goals with fitness guru Arnold Schwarzenegger turning vegan
Despite reports that Jason Kelce would retire following the Philadelphia Eagles’ loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the wild card round, he quickly refuted these claims and stated that nothing had been confirmed.
A month later, he officially made it official.
Despite being inspired by his younger brother Travis Kelce winning his third Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs, one of which was against Jason’s Eagles, the renowned Philadelphia Eagles center has announced his retirement. He realized that he no longer had the energy to continue playing for another year.
During his appearance on the brothers’ podcast New Heights, Kelce discussed his weight loss journey and future goals with actor and former Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger. This conversation took place after his retirement from the NFL.
‘It is pretty hard to quit,’ Kelce confessed. I’m in the process right now, I’m retired. I’ve played my whole career 295. I’m trying to get down to 250-260. My goal is two pounds every week, lose it, but maintain my muscle mass. But I’m trying to maintain my protein, muscle mass.’
The Impact of Jason Kelce on the Eagles’ Success
Despite his smaller stature compared to other centers, Jason Kelce stands out as a unique player. His athleticism enables him to swiftly reach the second level and hold his own against larger defensive linemen, thanks to his functional strength. Additionally, his technique allows him to excel beyond the limitations of his size.
It is impossible to overstate the significance of Jason Kelce to the Philadelphia Eagles. As the anchor of their offensive line and a standout center, he was a key figure in the locker room. Now that both Kelce and Fletcher Cox have retired, a significant gap has been left in the team and new leaders must step up on the roster.
There is no denying that it will be a daunting task to find someone who can match his skill on the field and his impact on the community. Therefore, it would be futile to attempt to replicate his presence. The most beneficial course of action for the Eagles would be to begin anew in this role and nurture a fresh leader who is not burdened by the expectations of being like Kelce.
