- Fans are excited to see Mindy and Chad again as anticipation builds for Scream 7.
The wait for horror enthusiasts is nearly over, with Scream 7 set to premiere on February 27, 2026. This installment of the iconic franchise is generating significant buzz, particularly among the returning cast, who are keen to slip back into their remarkable roles.
Among them is Jasmine Savoy Brown, returning as the horror-movie-obsessed Mindy Meeks-Martin. In a recent interview with Deadline, Brown shared her excitement about working once again with director Kevin Williamson, revealing:
“Working with Kevin has been a dream. I was so excited when I heard that he was directing and he has said on the record that Mindy is his favorite character.”
Brown further elaborated on her positive experience:
“He is so delightful and so encouraging and such a positive, wonderful person and director. I think people are in for a treat.”

It is particularly exciting for fans to learn that Mindy is Williamson’s favorite character. Together with her twin brother, Chad Meeks-Martin (portrayed by Mason Gooding), she remains one of the few Core Four characters still prominently featured in the series. Mindy’s blend of intelligence and passion for horror makes her a delightful character, despite the chilling circumstances she finds herself in within a slasher narrative. Notably, Williamson has previously expressed regret over the fate of Mindy’s uncle, Randy Meeks (played by Jamie Kennedy), who was killed off in Scream 2. While fans may lament Randy’s absence, they can enjoy the adventures of his surviving family members.
In addition to her role in Scream 7, Savoy Brown stars as Taissa Turner in the critically acclaimed Showtime series Yellowjackets. Her film credits include playing Sabrina in the anticipated 2024 release, Dreams in Nightmares, and her role as Allison Adams in the legal drama For The People (2018-2019).These diverse roles showcase her versatility as an actress.
As filming progresses, it’s heartening to see Savoy Brown enthused about stepping back into Mindy’s shoes, along with her positive working relationship with Williamson. The director has indicated that production has been enjoyable, and co-star Mason Gooding recently hinted at a significant increase in gore for this sequel. Gooding also praised Savoy Brown, highlighting their strong professional bond.
Savoy Brown joins an impressive lineup of legacy cast members, including Neve Campbell as the iconic Sidney Prescott and Courteney Cox returning as Gale Weathers, along with familiar faces like Matthew Lillard and Scott Foley. With each new cast interview, excitement continues to mount as fans look forward to witnessing Ghostface’s next chilling exploits on the big screen.
