Jannik Sinner becomes 3rd player born in 2000s after Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek to earn $20 million in career prize money

Jannik Sinner, who recently won the 2024 Miami Open, has joined the ranks of Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek as the third player born in the 2000s to reach $20 million in career prize money. In addition to this accomplishment, Sinner also became the first Italian to claim victory at this prestigious tournament.

Alcaraz, the leader among players born in the 21st century, has earned a total of $28,762,147 in prize money throughout his career, surpassing the $20 million mark. This year, Sinner, who won the Australian Open, has collected a career total of $21,021,773 in prize money.

Swiatek, the current No. 1 player on the WTA Tour, closely trails him. As the reigning French Open champion, Swiatek has amassed $27,169,071 in career prize money thus far.

Despite Carlos Alcaraz successfully defending his title at the Indian Wells Masters in March, Iga Swiatek has also been dominating the 2024 tennis season with two WTA-1000 tournament wins. She emerged victorious at both the Qatar Open in Doha and the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.

Ever since 2023, Jannik Sinner has consistently impressed at major tournaments. In August of last year, he secured his first ever Masters-1000 title at the Canadian Open, triumphing over Alex de Minaur in the final with a straight sets victory.

Despite losing the rematch in the finals to Djokovic, Sinner had an impressive debut at the ATP finals, winning all of his round-robin matches and even defeating World No. 1 Novak Djokovic. In 2023, he played a crucial role in helping Italy secure the Davis Cup title, marking the country’s first victory in the tournament in 47 years.

Sinner’s victory over Djokovic in the Davis Cup semifinals was particularly noteworthy as he became only the third player to defeat the Serb twice within a span of 12 days, joining the ranks of Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray.

Despite having beaten Djokovic at the semifinals of the 2024 Australian Open, resulting in the Serb’s first loss at this stage, he was faced with a challenging match against Daniil Medvedev in the finals. However, he managed to make a remarkable comeback after initially being down two sets, ultimately securing the Melbourne Major title.

After emerging victorious at the 2024 Miami Open, Jannik Sinner attained a career best ranking of No. 2 on the ATP rankings. This victory propelled him ahead of Carlos Alcaraz, leaving him second only to Novak Djokovic.

Despite his young age, Sinner has made history as the first Italian player to reach this spot in ATP or WTA history. In 2024, he amassed an impressive $3,978,338 in prize money, almost double the earnings of any other player on the ATP Tour this year.

The 22-year-old athlete has been dominating the 2024 season thus far and is currently leading the race to the ATP Finals by a significant margin. With 3900 points, he is well ahead of second-ranked Daniil Medvedev, who has accumulated 2550 points.

Surprisingly, despite being ranked World No. 1, Djokovic has accumulated only 910 points and is currently in 12th place in the ATP Finals race. In contrast, Alcaraz holds a solid fourth place position with 1700 points.
