James Wright Accuses Chrisean Rock of Assault and Battery: Tamar Braxton’s Friend Responds to Controversy

On October 7, 2024, court documents procured by In Touch revealed that Chrisean Rock has firmly rejected all claims made in the lawsuit filed by James Wright, a friend of Tamar Braxton. Chrisean also refuted allegations that James sustained “extreme mental anguish and severe emotional distress, along with physical pain and suffering,”as well as “various physical injuries.”

According to BET, news surfaced on January 7, 2024, that Tamar Braxton’s associate James Wright Chanel was suing Chrisean Rock for allegations of battery, assault, and emotional distress. James contended that Chrisean physically attacked him and directed a homophobic slur towards him during the incident.

The supposed assault is reported to have happened in November 2023 while attending a show by Tamar Braxton. James claims that the altercation resulted in two broken teeth and several lacerations to his face. Tamar Braxton addressed the situation on Instagram Live in January 2024, explaining that Chrisean believed she would play a larger role in the show and reacted angrily when informed otherwise.

James Wright’s Allegations Against Chrisean Rock: Incident Breakdown

In his legal complaint, James Wright Chanel indicated that Chrisean was only scheduled to perform a twerking segment towards the end of the evening. When James pointed out that Chrisean was not in her assigned area, she allegedly retaliated by hitting him.

Additionally, the lawsuit detailed that the incident necessitated James’ hospitalization, requiring treatment from a dentist and a plastic surgeon. He sought financial compensation for his medical expenses, among other damages, in his lawsuit.

Furthermore, the suit claimed that James was struck multiple times in the face “with the hand adorned with large champion-style rings.”After Chrisean was escorted from the dressing room, she purportedly yelled “foul, obscene, and insulting language”at him.

In her court filings, Chrisean stated:

“[James’] actions and conduct estop him, wholly or partially, from pursuing any claims against [Chrisean].”

The musician also argued that James Wright should be unable to claim any damages due to his “own actions, conduct, and/or omissions.”

This lawsuit is not Chrisean’s first encounter with legal issues regarding alleged physical harm. As reported by The Blast, in March 2024, Irby Lashala filed a lawsuit against the rapper, accusing her of inflicting emotional and physical distress during the Baddies premiere party.

Lashala recounted that during the January 2023 premiere of the Baddies reality series, after complimenting Chrisean on her appearance, the rapper suddenly assaulted and tackled her as she was starting to leave.

In other updates, Chrisean Rock was recently released from jail on September 7, 2024, after spending three months in custody. She was arrested in August 2024 on charges involving the possession of a controlled, dangerous substance and marijuana.

A warrant for her arrest had been active since March 2024, stemming from an earlier arrest in 2022 during a traffic stop where authorities discovered drugs in her vehicle.
