James Krause rakes up $5M in real estate debt post blacklisting from UFC due to suspicious betting activity
It seems that James Krause’s life has taken a turn for the worse ever since his abrupt departure from MMA in 2022.
It is common knowledge among fans that Krause was compelled to retire from the sport in late 2022 due to an FBI investigation launched on him and his Glory MMA and Fitness team after questionable betting behavior was detected involving one of his fighters. Following this incident, Krause has maintained a low profile, removing his presence from Instagram and X accounts, and devoting his attention solely to his real estate endeavors.
Despite it being over a year since the official launch of the FBI investigation, Krause recently posted on Facebook claiming to be “in debt of over $5 million.”
Take a look at the post below by James Krause:
In his post, Krause declared that his debt did not bother him and proceeded to provide his followers with financial advice on inflation. A section of the caption stated:
“I’m in over 5 million dollars of debt and don’t lose a second of sleep over it.”
Krause, who led Glory MMA and Fitness in Kansas City, Missouri, was once highly esteemed as a coach in the sport and was known as a “player-coach”in MMA, remaining a top welterweight until his retirement in 2020.
Despite Krause’s confidence in his fighter, Darrick Minner, the events of Nov. 5, 2022 would prove to be devastating. Shortly before Minner’s fight with Shayilan Nuerdanbieke, a significant amount of online bets were placed in favor of Nuerdanbieke, causing everything to fall apart for Krause. After just one kick, Minner would begin to limp and ultimately be finished in the first round in just 1:07.
Despite admitting to placing bets on his fighters in the past, Krause’s involvement in gambling activity was immediately questioned due to his reputation as an avid sports bettor. He had been running a popular podcast and Discord platform called The One Percent Club, where he shared his picks and predictions on MMA fights, until Nov. 5, 2022.
After conducting an investigation, the UFC decided to release Minner and Krause and also banned all fighters connected to the coach from participating in their events. In addition, Krause made the decision to sell his ownership of Glory MMA and Fitness shortly afterwards.
Latest Developments in James Krause’s UFC Betting Scandal Investigation
