This 31-year-old country singer hails from Claremore, Oklahoma, and currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee, fervently working towards his goal of becoming a successful musician.

Jake’s soulful voice and heartfelt musical delivery left a lasting impression on the coaches in The Voice season 26. Notably, he had previously participated in season 15 of American Idol.

The Voice, an eminent American singing competition television series, first aired in 2011 and has played a pivotal role in discovering and nurturing new musical talent.

Jake Tankersley’s Journey Before The Voice Season 26

Growing up in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Jake Tankersley exhibited a passion for music from a young age. With the support of his father, who provided him with several instruments, including a guitar, a small sound system, microphones, and a drum kit, Jake was encouraged to pursue his passion for music.

At the age of 17, while attending Charles Page High School in Tulsa, Jake composed his first original song. In 2014, he formed a band that included his brother, Colton Joe Tankersley, as well as friends Eric Cope and Casey Highfill. Jake took the role of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, while Colton played lead guitar, with their friends on bass and drums.

Path to Recognition

During the early stages of his career, Jake performed at various venues, earning a loyal following. His big break came in 2016 when he was selected as one of the top 200 contestants on American Idol, although he did not progress further in the competition.

In 2018, Jake released his debut full-length album, The Little Things, marking a significant milestone in his musical journey. Since then, he has consistently created and performed new music, gradually expanding his repertoire and fan base.

One of Jake’s most emotive songs, See You Soon, was dedicated to two of his former classmates, Hannah Christian and Cassidy Rotramel, who tragically lost their lives in a car accident at the age of 15.

He wrote and recorded this touching tribute during his senior year at Charles Page High School. See You Soon became an anthem of remembrance, receiving airplay on local radio stations and raising over $7,000 for the families of his classmates.

Personal Life and Family

Jake married his high school sweetheart, Ashleigh Lauren Tankersley, in 2011, and together they have four children. The couple frequently shares glimpses of their family life on social media, showcasing their love and commitment to one another and to their kids.

He is also very close to his mother, who worked as an electrician at the Ford Motor Company Glass Plant. Following her retirement, she established her own furniture business. Jake often refers to his mother as the “hardest worker,”drawing inspiration from her dedication.

The Voice Audition Experience

During the premiere of The Voice season 26, Jake captivated the coaches with his rendition of Zach Bryan’s Something in the Orange during the blind auditions. He achieved a remarkable four-chair turn, with all judges—Snoop Dogg, Gwen Stefani, Reba McEntire, and Michael Bublé—eager to welcome him to their teams. Ultimately, Jake decided to join Team Snoop, setting an exciting trajectory for his The Voice journey.

Throughout the auditions, Snoop Dogg expressed his thrill and enthusiasm for Jake’s talent, promising an exhilarating experience on The Voice.

“Jake, Jake, Jake, Jake! I was first. I jumped on it like we was on Family Feud, Jake. I wasn’t playing,”Snoop remarked.
