Jake E. Lee Update: Former Ozzy Osbourne Guitarist Survives Multiple Gunshots in Las Vegas

Jake E. Lee, the former guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne, was recently hospitalized following a shooting incident that occurred in Las Vegas on October 15, 2024. Currently, the motive behind the attack remains unclear.

The local police have initiated an investigation to uncover more information surrounding the event. According to reports, Lee was out walking his dog during the early morning when the shooting took place, as confirmed to People magazine by the authorities.

A spokesperson for Lee released a statement addressing the situation:

“Due to the ongoing police investigation, we will not provide further comments. The Lee family appreciates your respect for their privacy during this difficult time.”

Moreover, the spokesperson clarified that authorities have determined the “shooting was entirely random.”

Tim Heyne, the manager of Jake E. Lee’s band Red Dragon Cartel, spoke to The Associated Press, revealing:

“By the grace of God, no significant organs were affected, he’s fully responsive, and we expect him to make a complete recovery.”

The shooting occurred on the 11000 block of Alora Street, where police found a victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to a report from Fox News. Jake is currently in the Intensive Care Unit, and updates on his condition are anticipated.

Ozzy Osbourne’s Response to Jake E. Lee’s Shooting

Notably, Lee, a native of Norfolk, Virginia, played with Osbourne for roughly five years before forming two successful bands, Red Dragon Cartel and Badlands.

In light of the recent incident involving Jake E. Lee, Ozzy Osbourne issued a statement to TMZ expressing his feelings:

“It’s been 37 years since I last saw Jake E. Lee, but it doesn’t lessen the shock of what happened today. It’s just another senseless act of gun violence. My thoughts are with him and his wonderful daughter, Jade. I sincerely hope he recovers.”

During his tenure with Ozzy, Jake made significant contributions to the album “Bark at the Moon,”which garnered positive reviews, and went on tour with the iconic musician.

However, in 1987, his time with Osbourne ended when he was dismissed by Sharon Osbourne.

In a 2018 interview with Eon Music, Jake reflected on his firing, recounting how Sharon invited him to dinner without initially disclosing the purpose of the meeting.

He realized something was amiss when Sharon mentioned:

“My roommate, who was also my guitar tech, came back from the Rainbow and told me that he had spoken to [Ozzy’s bandmates] Phil [Soussan, bass] and Randy Castillo [drums], and they asked him, ‘What will you do now that Jake’s out of the band?’”

Lee expressed his disbelief upon hearing from his roommate about his dismissal. The 67-year-old guitarist later contacted Sharon, who confirmed the news, adding it was part of the reason for their dinner meeting.

Despite rumors alleging a conflict regarding his departure, Jake E. Lee maintained that he and Sharon shared a strong friendship at that time.
