IVE’s Yujin Experiences Unwanted Contact from Fan at Incheon Airport Before Group’s International Schedule

Controversial Incident Involving IVE’s Yujin at Incheon Airport

In a concerning incident reported on Thursday at Incheon International Airport, IVE’s Yujin was touched without her consent by a fan while the group was preparing for their departure to an overseas schedule in Shanghai, China.

Footage provided by news outlets captured the moment when a fan made physical contact with Yujin, prompting a visible reaction from the idol as she turned to acknowledge the individual. The encounter was caught just moments before the group was set to embark on their journey for a fan meeting event.

The Fan’s Defense

Following the incident, the fan took to social media to defend their actions, claiming that the contact was unintentional. They explained that while attempting to adjust the zoom on their phone, they were pushed from behind, inadvertently causing their hand to come into contact with Yujin. The fan stated, “Did you not see me adjust my phone to film Jang Wonyoung later on? If I really wanted to grope, the security didn’t block me off so why wouldn’t I grope Jang Wonyoung instead? Why would I grope someone I have no interest in?”More details here.

Calls for Enhanced Security Protocols

This incident has reignited discussions regarding the necessity for stronger security measures to safeguard idols during public appearances, particularly at airports where large crowds can lead to invasive encounters. Fans and online commentators have expressed their concerns about the absence of barricades and insufficient crowd management, which leave idols exposed to unwanted attention and behavior.

IVE’s Ongoing Privacy Challenges

This is not the first instance highlighting the security challenges faced by IVE. Earlier this year, their agency, Starship Entertainment, received backlash for a regrettable incident involving deepfake content of Yujin and fellow member Wonyoung shared on social media. The agency publicly apologized and took disciplinary measures against the personnel responsible for the breach.

In May 2024, Wonyoung also faced a grave situation when she received a specific online death threat, leading Starship Entertainment to report the threat to law enforcement and enhance her protection. This included hiring additional security personnel and reviewing travel arrangements, alongside a commitment to take legal action against such malicious threats.
