IVE’s Wonyoung Sparks Controversy with Airport Look: Fans Speculate Possible ‘Queen Behaviour’ and Alleged Mocking of Sojang

IVE vocalist Jang Wonyoung is trending on social media for her latest airport fashion, prompting netizens to speculate whether she took a jab at controversial YouTuber Sojang. On September 24, the Starship Entertainment girl group IVE was spotted at Gimpo International Airport en route to Tokyo, Japan.

Wonyoung particularly captured attention with her outfit, which consisted of a pink polo t-shirt and a white ruffle mini skirt. She complemented her look with black sunglasses, black shoes, and long gray socks. South Korean internet users rapidly noted the striking resemblance between her outfit and Sojang’s attire depicted in a viral video.

For those unfamiliar, YouTuber Sojang has faced accusations of defaming numerous K-pop stars, including Jang Wonyoung, by disseminating false information through her videos. Back in May 2024, a clip surfaced showing Sojang being pursued by reporters while wearing a strikingly similar pink shirt and white skirt.

Notably, Wonyoung had previously filed a lawsuit against Sojang and emerged victorious; the YouTuber was ordered to pay 100 million KRW to Jang Wonyoung. With clips and photos of Wonyoung at the airport circulating on the internet, many netizens speculated that the K-pop idol’s fashion choice was a deliberate mockery of Sojang, and numerous fans applauded her for it. Social media was abuzz with fans expressing their opinions about her airport look.

“Queen behavior,”a fan commented.

“I don’t think anyone understands how iconic this is,”a fan added.

“Just added to the list of iconic things Jang Wonyoung has done,”a user remarked.

Many netizens agreed that Jang Wonyoung’s supposed mockery of Sojang was, in fact, iconic.

“Because it’s iconic and she loves doing iconic stuff,”a fan wrote.

“Wonyoung be like: ‘Oh, my gosh, don’t you know I’m a savage?’,”another user referenced aespa’s lyrics to the song “Savage.”

“Jang Wonyoung is defending a name that will haunt Sojang for the rest of her life. This is the consequence of talking trash about THE Jang Wonyoung,”a user commented.

Fans humorously speculated that, if the assumptions about Jang Wonyoung’s supposed jab were unfounded, the situation would still be amusing.

“It would be hilarious if Wonyoung was just minding her own business, unintentionally going viral, and inadvertently landing another blow to Sojang in the process,”a user remarked.

“Wonyoung will be Sojang’s nightmare for the rest of her life. She’ll probably think twice before speaking ill of anyone,”a fan stated.

“Except Wonyoung’s outfit costs 19283728 times more,”a user added.

More about IVE’s Wonyoung’s Legal Battle Against YouTuber Sojang

In January 2024, YouTuber Sojang was mandated to pay 100 million KRW to IVE member Jang Wonyoung for disseminating rumors and misinformation about the idol. According to Korea JoongAng Daily, the YouTuber, who operates under the pseudonym Park on the Sojang channel, spread numerous rumors about Wonyoung, including false claims of a romantic involvement with a male idol.

In October 2023, Jang Wonyoung, alongside Starship Entertainment, filed separate civil lawsuits against the YouTuber for her failure to respond to the initial legal action. As a result, the court ordered her to pay 100 million KRW to Wonyoung.

Other K-pop stars, including Kang Daniel, BTS’ V and Jungkook, EXO’s leader Suho, aespa, and many more, have also reportedly taken legal action against Sojang.
