The K-pop sensation IVE recently paid tribute to the late 8-year-old Kim Ha Neul by sending a memorial wreath to her wake. This act was particularly poignant, as it was revealed by Ha Neul’s father that she was an ardent admirer of Jang Wonyoung, one of the group’s members.
Tragically, Ha Neul was the victim of a violent stabbing incident in Daejeon, South Korea, earlier this week. Reports indicate that her attacker, a female elementary school teacher in her 40s, allegedly stabbed the young student multiple times in critical areas, including her face and shoulders.
The horrifying event unfolded around 6 p.m.at an elementary school, where Ha Neul was later found and rushed to the hospital only to succumb to her injuries shortly thereafter.
In a heart-wrenching interview with the press, Ha Neul’s father shared insights about her devotion to IVE. He noted that his daughter was a “huge fan”of Jang Wonyoung and would eagerly anticipate her appearances on television.“Regardless of the program, if Jang Wonyoung was on, she made it a point to watch it, even if it meant staying up late for a live broadcast, ”he conveyed, desperately hoping for a “warm goodbye”for his daughter from the beloved idol.
IVE responded compassionately to the family’s grief by sending a wreath that was thoughtfully placed beside Ha Neul’s memorial photo at the wake, offering a sense of comfort to the mourning family.
Details of the Stabbing Incident
Authorities have reported that the assailant confessed to the crime, disclosing that the attack was premeditated but that she chose Ha Neul randomly. At the time, the young girl was the last student to exit from an after-school program.
The teacher lured Ha Neul into an audiovisual room under the guise of providing her with a book, despite having no prior interaction with the child.
This tragic incident comes on the heels of the assailant’s recent troubled history; she returned to teaching less than three weeks after being placed on a six-month leave for depression, on a recommendation that she was well enough to work, as highlighted by BBC News.
Just days before this horrific incident, it was noted that the teacher had attacked another colleague, placing that individual in a headlock. This raises significant concerns regarding her mental well-being and fitness for her position.
