“I’ve been watching him for a long time” – Jonathan Di Bella knew clash with Prajanchai was inevitable

Jonathan Di Bella has the fortune of things working out in his favor at times.

Ever since becoming the reigning ONE strawweight kickboxing world champion, he knew that he would eventually come face to face with Thai phenom Prajanchai PK Saenchai.

On April 5, Di Bella will defend his gold at ONE Friday Fights 58 against the ONE strawweight Muay Thai world champion, in what can only be described as a fated meeting.

The champion-versus-champion duel will take place against the backdrop of the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium.

During an interview with ONE Championship, Jonathan Di Bella mentioned that he had observed Prajanchai’s successes in the competitive world of Muay Thai. The location for their upcoming match, known as the “Mecca of Muay Thai,”seemed fitting.

“I’ve been watching him compete for a long time. Obviously, he’s a great champion. He’s one of the best strikers to ever compete at the highest level and won all over Thailand, and Lumpinee, and all the other stadiums. So I knew him, I’ve been watching him for a very long time.”

At 29 years old, Prajanchai is currently in his prime and possesses a vast amount of experience that even older fighters can only dream of having.

The PK Saenchai product boasts an incredible record of 342-52-3 and an impressive 6-1 record in ONE Championship.

In December 2023, Prajanchai achieved the undisputed ONE strawweight Muay Thai world title after defeating his longtime rival Joseph Lasiri in under two minutes, marking it as one of the greatest wins of his career.

Jonathan Di Bella praises Prajanchai’s impeccable fighting style

Despite not openly expressing his admiration for Prajanchai, Jonathan Di Bella possesses a profound understanding of the strawweight Muay Thai champion’s unmatched skill.

During the interview, Di Bella also mentioned that he has been closely studying Prajanchai for a considerable amount of time and has yet to find any major weaknesses in the Thai fighter’s technique.

“I always had my eye on him. I believe he has strengths everywhere. I don’t believe he has any weaknesses. So yeah, I’m just ready to prepare for everything.”
