“It’s your fault bro”: NBA fans rebuke Doc Rivers’ alleged excuses in back-to-back losses
After becoming the head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, Doc Rivers has maintained a. 500 record. However, after experiencing a second confusing defeat this week, NBA fans started to criticize the seasoned coach.
During this season, teams are striving to gain momentum leading up to the playoffs. However, the Bucks have not been able to achieve this goal. Despite a loss to the Washington Wizards on Tuesday, they continued their streak by also losing to the undermanned Memphis Grizzlies.
After the second defeat, Doc Rivers expressed his views on professionalism while on the road. As a result, fans flooded social media with criticism towards him, blaming him for the Bucks’ struggles.
“Time for Giannis to get another coach fired,”wrote X user @analleline.
“Bro acts like he isn’t the one making decisions,”X user @SixersShowYo wrote.
X user @_AIILove said, “playoffs not even here yet and he’s already scapegoating.”
“Haha. Hes probably the most overrated coach of all time,”said X user @ElCalifornio07.
After Adrian Griffin’s tenure as head coach, the Bucks boasted a 30-13 record. However, under Doc Rivers’ leadership, the team’s record has dropped to 15-15.
As the regular season nears its end, Milwaukee is at risk of surrendering the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. The Cleveland Cavaliers and Orlando Magic are both within two games of surpassing them.
Former player criticizes Doc Rivers after team’s losing streak
Despite acquiring Damian Lillard in the offseason, the Milwaukee Bucks were initially predicted to be a strong contender for the championship. However, recent events have caused doubt among many about their capability to compete for the title this season.
After these consecutive defeats, Doc Rivers has been criticized by various people both inside and outside the NBA. One of those who spoke out was Kendrick Perkins, a former player who was coached by Rivers.
“It’s unacceptable,”Perkins said. “And you’re not going to blame Giannis. You wanted Damian Lillard, you got him. You wanted a new coach, you got Doc Rivers. And now, where is the leadership?”
The source of these comments adds greater significance, considering their origin. Perkins, having spent time with Rivers as teammates on the Boston Celtics, is someone who knows him well.
As the playoffs draw closer, the Bucks are not headed in the desired direction. They only have a two-week window to mentally and physically prepare themselves if they hope to have a chance at competing.
Milwaukee’s decision to bring in Rivers was based on his experience. However, with the way events have played out since his arrival, the organization may be reconsidering their choice.
