It’s Not Just You, WhatsApp is Facing a Massive Outage All Over the World, Instagram Voice Notes Also Down

WhatsApp and Instagram are popular messaging platforms that many of us rely on every day. While they are usually very reliable, occasional outages can cause people to panic as if it’s the end of the world. As I finished my evening jog in London, I tried to catch up with some friends and was surprised to find that Meta’s messaging platform was completely down. I was unable to send messages, make calls, or share any media.

Major Outages Hit WhatsApp and Instagram, While Facebook and Messenger Remain Operational

While I was composing the headline, a friend informed me that Instagram’s voice note function was also experiencing issues. Although one can record a voice note, it fails to send. Currently, the outage appears to be impacting users globally, with some being able to send voice notes on Instagram while others cannot. Additionally, WhatsApp seems to be entirely offline.

According to Downdetector, there are currently nearly 12,000 reports of WhatsApp being down, while Instagram has approximately 3,000 reports. Additionally, there have been numerous reports of issues with Messenger and Facebook, indicating that almost all of Meta’s services are currently experiencing problems, varying in severity.
