It’s not a huge surprise but a Microsoft Xbox animated AI chatbot is in the works

For more than a year, Microsoft has been fully committed to its AI initiatives. Its Copilot AI chatbot has been integrated into virtually every aspect of its products and services. As a recent example, the company has now made its Copilot for Security feature accessible to all Azure customers.

Despite the AI boom at the company, it has not made a significant impact on its Xbox gaming division in the past year. However, this is expected to change in the near future. According to a Microsoft spokesperson, The Verge has confirmed that the company is currently developing a prototype for an “Xbox Support Virtual Agent.”This highly anticipated animated AI chatbot will allow users to voice or text their queries about Xbox Support topics, using information from existing Xbox Support pages.

According to The Verge, the latest version of the Xbox chatbot is reminiscent of Clippy, the famous yet formerly disliked digital assistant that would appear when someone needed assistance with an Office document in the late 1990s. This new animated Xbox AI chatbot even asks its users, “How can I help you today?”staying true to its predecessor’s helpful nature.

According to Microsoft’s Xbox support documentation, the chatbot is capable of not only responding to user inquiries, but also issuing game refunds if necessary. Recent reports indicate that the company has been conducting internal tests of the chatbot, with individuals posing questions about its Minecraft Realms game server hosting service.

The report does not mention a specific date for the public launch of the new Xbox chatbot. If and when it does become available, it is probable that Xbox Insider members will have the opportunity to be the first to test it out.

The Verge predicts that in the future, chatbots may also be implemented in Microsoft’s Xbox safety and moderation services, as well as integrated into Xbox games to provide players with tips and support.
