Nagoshi’s Gang of Dragons Seems to Have Disbanded: YouTube Channel and Trailers Now Missing

Concerns Arise for Gang of Dragon as Development Stalls

Gang of Dragon, a highly anticipated title from Toshihiro Nagoshi, the legendary creator of the YAKUZA series, is facing serious uncertainties regarding its future. Recent reports on Reddit indicate that the game’s official YouTube channel and trailers have been abruptly removed, raising alarm bells among fans. Although the Steam page for the game remains active, it stands as the last hope for supporters who wish to see the project come to fruition.

Background and Funding Woes

Initially announced during The Game Awards 2025, Gang of Dragon was already navigating turbulent waters even before this recent turmoil. Following his departure from SEGA in 2021, Nagoshi established a new studio with the backing of NetEase the next year. However, reports from early 2025 suggested that NetEase had retracted its financial support for several projects, including those led by Nagoshi.

Moreover, it has come to light that Nagoshi Studio intended to self-publish Gang of Dragon. This decision underscores their urgent need for external funding, a struggle that appears to have been unsuccessful given the recent deletions. Until we receive an official statement, the uncertainty remains significant.

A New Direction in Storytelling

Gang of Dragon is set against the vibrant backdrop of Kabukicho, the renowned entertainment district in Shinjuku, Tokyo—an area well-known to devotees of the Yakuza franchise. The narrative follows Shin Ji-seong, a prominent member of a Korean crime syndicate situated in Japan. Portrayed by the talented Korean-American actor Ma Dong-seok (also known as Don Lee from “Train to Busan”and Marvel’s “The Eternals”), Shin finds himself embroiled in a complex landscape of criminal intrigue, deception, and power dynamics. This choice to feature a Korean protagonist in a traditionally Japanese criminal environment signifies a bold evolution in Nagoshi’s storytelling approach.

Gameplay Features and Mechanics

The game promises an engaging action-adventure experience presented from a third-person perspective. Players can expect thrilling, hands-on combat that highlights Shin’s formidable physical abilities. The weapons arsenal is diverse, encompassing everything from melee weapons and swords to firearms, including portable miniguns. Furthermore, vehicles are envisioned to play a pivotal role in gameplay, with car chases and driving mechanics woven into the narrative, enhancing the adrenaline-pumping experience.

As fans await further developments, the future of Gang of Dragon hangs in the balance, illustrating the unpredictable nature of game production in today’s industry.
