“It Was Just an Hour Nap” — Love is Blind Star Alex Discusses Her Breakup with Tim

On October 16, 2024, Netflix premiered episodes 10 and 11 of the much-loved dating series Love is Blind, Season 7. In this latest chapter, the couples faced the trials of reality, navigating family introductions and seeking approval from loved ones. However, as the wedding preparations commenced, tensions began to rise.

While some pairs succeeded in navigating their differences, others found it challenging to keep their relationships afloat. In episode 10, Tim ended his engagement with Alex, expressing his frustration over her choice to take a nap during a visit from his parents. Despite Alex’s attempts to clarify her actions, Tim remained resolute in his decision.

In an exclusive interview with TODAY.com, which was released on October 17, 2024, Alex shared her perspective on her breakup with Tim and the issues that arose between them. She stated:

“We literally filmed with his parents all day. I had a really busy agenda and needed to leave that evening. I just wanted to take a brief nap before heading out — it was only for an hour.”

Alex further reflected on how their bond weakened after they left the pods, realizing there were numerous fundamental incompatibilities that hindered their understanding of one another.

In her conversation with TODAY.com, Alex discussed the dynamics she shared with Tim and the various factors that contributed to their disconnect. She admitted that they were misaligned in numerous ways, particularly in their expressions of affection. Alex noted that Tim “wasn’t very affectionate,”contrasting with her expectations for emotional connection and compromise.

Once their romance came to an end, Alex realized they were simply “two different people from different backgrounds.”She concluded that they lacked the necessary tools to fully engage in a relationship.

Following their split, Alex revealed she hadn’t reached out to Tim, respecting his request to avoid contact. She mentioned he also hadn’t contacted her, even though he wasn’t blocked on any platforms. Whenever she felt the urge to rekindle their relationship, she would reflect on their breakup night, which helped her resist those impulses.

When asked why she did not fight harder for their relationship, Alex explained that she had already communicated her feelings and felt there was nothing more to say.

“I’m not someone who pursues others. If that’s your desire, then let’s end it,”she remarked.

Alex also revealed that she was taken aback when Tim announced he had made his decision the night before, despite having made plans with her earlier that same day for the upcoming week. She expressed confusion about how their relationship could change so drastically in such a short time.

Just two days prior to their breakup, Tim had an emotional meeting with her father, which felt like a particularly anxious time for Alex. She was aware that she wouldn’t marry Tim unless she received her father’s blessing, so she felt grateful when he approved Tim.

When asked about her father’s reaction to the breakup, Alex shared:

“He was truly devastated. To this day, he does not approve of Tim. He resented that Tim went through the entire process. He still holds onto the letter Tim wrote him, viewing it as deceptive. He reread it and questioned, ‘Was any of this genuine?’

Despite her initial conviction that they would make it as a married couple, Alex came to realize that marriage was no longer a viable path for her and Tim.
