“It takes a lot of time” – Regian Eersel reveals how long it took for him to completely trust his coaches
The relationship between a fighter and his coaches is crucial, according to Regian Eersel, who credits it as the key to his success.
It took some time for the current and unquestioned ONE lightweight Muay Thai and kickboxing world champion to fully trust his longtime coaches, Paul and Vincent Pengel. However, once their partnership was solidified, his career was elevated to an entirely new level.
In a recent interview with ONE Championship, Regian Eersel revealed that it took him almost ten years to fully trust his coaches with his career.
According to ‘The Immortal’:
“I think for me it was long, I think maybe eight years, nine years. But I’m the type of guy who doesn’t trust people very quickly. It takes a lot of time. A lot of time, energy and effort from both sides until I can say, ‘OK, I’m really trusting you now. So yeah, I think 8-9 years, something like that.”
Undoubtedly, the partnership between Eersel and the Pengel brothers has resulted in tremendous success on the international level. Eersel, now holding titles in both Muay Thai and kickboxing, has solidified their formula for success.
Expect Regian Eersel to once again put that formula to the test in his upcoming fight.
