Hannah Jiles, a contestant from the seventh season of Love Is Blind, recently opened up about the pivotal moment she realized that marrying Nick Dorka was not the right choice for her. As their wedding day approached, Hannah made the tough decision to end their engagement, expressing her concerns about their shared future.
In an interview with Swooon on October 19, 2024, Hannah reflected on her emotions:
“When I woke up that morning, it didn’t feel right. I just had this gut feeling. That was the moment when I knew I couldn’t go through with it.”
Despite their promising start on the series, their relationship faced challenges that ultimately prevented them from tying the knot.
The final episode of Love Is Blind is set to air on October 23, followed by a reunion special on October 30 at 9 PM ET on Netflix.
Hannah and Nick’s journey on Love Is Blind
The connection between Hannah and Nick began in the pods, where they quickly found common ground. During one memorable conversation, Hannah playfully stated:
“I’ll be your Taylor Swift, and you can be my Travis Kelce.”
As their relationship progressed, Hannah started to notice contrasting lifestyles, especially as her bond with fellow contestant Leo Braudy intensified.
Even though Nick consistently reassured her of his commitment, Hannah’s apprehensions grew, leading her to end things with him—a decision she later regretted. Nick was willing to forgive and they became engaged again after a heartfelt reconciliation.
Their engagement trip in Mexico started off wonderfully, but issues arose during a light-hearted duck race when Nick’s playful behavior with another contestant made Hannah uneasy.
Although Hannah later downplayed this incident to Swooon, stating it wasn’t the primary reason for their split, it fueled her uncertainties. She began to question whether Nick’s youthful and sometimes frivolous demeanor aligned with her expectations for a serious, long-lasting partnership.
The breaking point
Upon returning from Mexico and moving in together, the couple’s differences became more glaring. Hannah was concerned about Nick’s dependence on his parents—he was still on their phone plan and lived in their basement—raising red flags about his maturity.
In contrast, Hannah sought a partner who demonstrated independence and motivation. She pointed out Nick’s lack of essential life skills, such as boiling water or mounting a TV, and stated in her latest interview:
“We’re just not on the same page.”
Their differences were further highlighted during an outing with other couples from Love Is Blind, where Hannah felt uneasy seeing Nick reconnect with Katie, a fellow contestant.
Hannah felt disrespected by Nick’s behavior and voiced her feelings, which led to a heated argument. “I loved Nick, but I had instincts I couldn’t disregard,” she shared. As the wedding date loomed, their disagreements intensified.
A disastrous meeting between Nick and Hannah’s friends confirmed her misgivings. She revealed:
“It wasn’t just a single incident. It was a series of moments that made it clear we shouldn’t be getting married.”
During their final discussion in Love Is Blind, Hannah brought a notebook outlining her concerns, sharing her belief that Nick was unprepared for marriage. Nick reacted defensively, claiming she was “throwing shade for no reason.”
He asserted that he would have proceeded with the wedding, but Hannah doubted his sincerity, suggesting that he was more concerned with not facing embarrassment. “I don’t know if he’s even real,” she said after their breakup, reflecting on their experience together.
The heart-wrenching end of Hannah and Nick’s relationship was captured in episode 11 of Love Is Blind season 7, sparking much discussion among viewers prior to the reunion.
Fans can catch the reunion on Netflix on October 30 at 9 PM ET, where unresolved issues and lingering questions are expected to be addressed.
