- Mustafa has expressed interest in reprising his role as Mike Hanlon in future adaptations.
- He hinted at intriguing surprises awaiting viewers in the upcoming series It: Welcome to Derry.
As fans of Stephen King’s universe eagerly anticipate the debut of It: Welcome to Derry, exciting revelations from one of the stars of It: Chapter Two have surfaced. Actor Isaiah Mustafa, who portrayed Mike Hanlon, has hinted at the potential for another film centered on Pennywise, suggesting that additional content may soon follow.
Mustafa’s character, Mike Hanlon, is pivotal in the narrative; he remains in Derry to monitor the return of Pennywise and summon his childhood friends from The Losers Club if necessary. Both film adaptations encapsulate the rich storytelling of King’s original work, interweaving two timelines. The first part introduces The Losers Club’s battle against the terrifying clown, while It: Chapter Two illustrates their adult confrontation and, ostensibly, defeat of the sinister entity.
Is It: Chapter Three Coming Soon?

During a recent interview with Screenrant, Mustafa articulated his belief that there is potential for It: Chapter Three or a related project in the Pennywise saga. While he remained vague regarding discussions about future films, he implied that the prospect is indeed on the table, stating, “never say never.”Although unsure about the future of his character, he expressed a sense of continuity, declaring he “never thought that there wouldn’t be anything to continue the story.”
Mustafa also revealed his involvement with the prequel series It: Welcome to Derry, which is expected to premiere on Max later this year. This new series will explore events long before The Losers Club became aware of Pennywise, providing deeper insights into the eerie occurrences in Derry that preceded the heroes’ ultimate stand against the sinister force.
Although Mustafa has had the opportunity to explore the set of It: Welcome to Derry, he holds back from disclosing any specific details.“I know better than to say anything about what’s coming, ”he noted during the interview, teasing that significant revelations will emerge once the show airs.
As it stands, It: Welcome to Derry does not yet have a confirmed release date, but projections indicate a launch in 2025. The creative team behind the series envisions a narrative arc that could extend across three seasons, contingent on audience reception and narrative closure. There’s a tantalizing possibility that another installment featuring the iconic shapeshifter might materialize between the projected seasons, much to the delight of Stephen King’s devoted fanbase.
