The Eerie Renesmee Doll: A Twilight Legacy
It’s hard to forget the unsettling portrayal of Renesmee in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part II. This character, the rapidly aging daughter of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen, was epitomized not by a young actress but by a doll that many viewers found creepy. It’s baffling to think that the creative team behind the series saw this decision as fitting.
The image of this unsettling doll has lingering effects on fans and observers alike. One can’t help but question the thought process behind casting a doll when a real child could have easily sufficed. Would it not be more convincing? Surely, audiences could suspend their disbelief just a little more.

But the spookiness doesn’t end with its appearance. The Renesmee doll has garnered an almost mythical reputation, earning the nickname “Chuckesmee” among the cast. This strange artifact now resides in the Forever Twilight museum collection in Forks, Washington, capturing the fascination and fears of fans. The collection, which holds various memorabilia from the beloved series, also showcases this infamous doll.
When Forks acquired props from the film, they also took possession of the Renesmee doll—once in pristine condition but now showing signs of age and wear. The narrative surrounding the doll has only grown darker, almost as if it possesses a life of its own.
Lissy Andros, the Executive Director for the Forks Chamber of Commerce, shared her peculiar affection for the doll with Jezebel, stating, “She’s very dear to me. But a lot of people hate her guts.” This divide presents an intriguing question: what is it about this doll that elicits such strong emotions? Could it be true that the doll moves on its own?
A recent TikTok visitor shed light on the doll’s unsettling condition, revealing that what were once white socks have taken a markedly dirty turn. Andros herself lamented the state of the doll’s attire, suggesting, “I feel like the Cullens could afford clean socks for her.” With claims that the doll is “actively melting”and the heaviness attributed to its animatronic features, its deteriorating state suggests it may not endure much longer.
The concern escalates when Andros confides that they cannot explain the doll’s mysterious movements.“One day she might be standing up straight and the next when you come in on another day, she’s in a weird position, ” she explains. It’s a scenario straight out of a horror movie—adding to the ambiance of the museum: “We tell everybody that the cover is on her for their protection.”
If I Were Named “Chuckesmee” …
As we continue to poke fun at the Twilight franchise, it strikes me as odd that this haunted doll has been allowed to persist in our cultural dialogue. Shouldn’t we have disposed of such malevolence long ago? It seems almost comparable to how we treat the cursed doll, Annabelle, giving it a place of honor in a museum rather than disbanding it entirely.
Renaming a doll after Chucky, the infamous slasher from horror film lore, is hardly a comforting thought. The question lingers: Will Renesmee eventually gain sentience and aim for world domination?
Curiously, those visiting the museum seem unfazed by a doll that could easily pass for an antagonist in a horror film. The rather lighthearted attitude towards such a potentially dangerous object raises eyebrows. Personally, a moving doll on my 2020 bingo card was not something I anticipated.
Imagining a future where I wake to find Renesmee standing ominously by my bedside, perhaps wielding a knife in response to my online remarks, is unsettling. And yet, here we are, grappling with the strange legacy of Renesmee.
