“Is This a Scam?” — Tyler from Love is Blind Shares How He Joined the Netflix Reality Show

The seventh season of the popular Netflix reality series, Love is Blind, debuted on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. In this unique social experiment, singles entered the intimate pods with hopes of discovering their potential life partners without the influence of looks. The diverse cast brought together individuals from various backgrounds to explore whether true love can blossom without physical interaction.

Among the participants was 34-year-old account manager Tyler Francis, who entered the pods eager to find his future wife. Tyler shared his journey to joining Love is Blind during an appearance on The Viall Files podcast, which aired on October 3, 2024. He revealed that he was initially hesitant to respond to the casting invitation.

“I was contacted through LinkedIn, and I needed to do some digging to see what it was all about. I thought, ‘Is this for real? Is it a scam?’ They never asked for any money, so I thought, why not continue with the interviews?”

Tyler mentioned that he eventually accepted the opportunity because he found the show’s premise intriguing, as it encourages participants to focus on emotional intimacy rather than physical attraction. He hoped this experience would lead to more fulfilling connections than those he had previously made.

Insights from Tyler Francis about his Love is Blind Journey

During the podcast, Tyler expressed his lack of familiarity with the show and admitted to watching very little television. Identifying as an “outdoorsy type,”he didn’t have much exposure to reality TV. When approached by Netflix on LinkedIn, he was skeptical about the entire situation. Nonetheless, clarity about the show’s format convinced him to participate.

Tyler noted he entered the show with little knowledge of how to engage within the format. His primary goal was to showcase his true self.

“I thought I would just be myself. If I didn’t connect with anyone, I’d head back home. But if I found someone special, then it would be a win for me. I approached it with no expectations,” Tyler shared.

He also mentioned that while some contestants took notes, his focus was solely on engaging in conversations.

Podcast host Nick Viall praised Tyler’s conversational skills, to which Tyler humbly replied, “I was just being honest.”He clarified that he didn’t enter the competition with any strategy or hidden agenda; he simply wanted to meet people and engage in meaningful conversations without scripting his words.

When discussing his experiences on blind dates in the pods, Tyler confirmed that every interaction felt authentic. There were no rigid rules; contestants had the freedom to choose their dates and organize their outings as they saw fit.

“You had the responsibility to plan dates, send flowers, and there were no external nudges telling you how to behave,”Tyler explained.

The conversation turned to Tyler’s initial encounter with his partner, Ashley Adionser, during their engagement ceremony. He joked about feeling fortunate and revealed that regardless of her appearance, he was ready to propose.

He realized Ashley was the right choice for him because she provided a feeling of safety and calmness, allowing him to express himself without fear of judgment.

Later, Tyler shared his approach to engaging with women in the pods, noting that he intentionally avoided discussions about physical attributes because he wished to be appreciated for his personality. For him, physical appearance was merely a bonus in forming connections.

In episode 3 of Love is Blind Season 7, Tyler proposed to Ashley. Fans are now eagerly anticipating whether the couple will say “I do”in the upcoming wedding episode, scheduled to air on October 23, 2024.
