Apartment 7A follows the story of Terry Gionoffrio, a dancer who sustains a leg injury that prevents her from performing. Following a disheartening audition, she tracks down the production’s producer to his residence, but collapses on the sidewalk due to pain medication for her injury, as witnessed by a passing couple.

Terry later regains consciousness in the couple’s apartment where they introduce themselves as the Castavets. They inform her that the producer Marchand is also a resident of the same building. Mrs. Castavet offers Terry a vacant apartment they own, which she accepts for the time being.

Subsequently, Terry visits Marchand’s apartment for a drink, where he takes advantage of her while she is inebriated. Despite this, he eventually offers her a role as a chorus dancer in the musical, much to her relief.

However, things take a dark turn when Terry discovers she is pregnant from the one-night encounter. She begins to experience terrifying visions of a monstrous entity within her, prompting her to suspect something sinister surrounding her unborn child, setting the chilling premise for the film.
