Silent Hill 2 remake omits Denuvo and other anti-piracy tools

According to the game’s official page on Steam, there is no reference to Denuvo. Store guidelines require publishers to disclose the presence of such software under a “Third-party EULA”label, which is visible for many other titles, including upcoming releases like Monster Hunter Wilds.

Denuvo has developed a negative reputation within the gaming community, primarily due to the challenges it creates in gameplay. Issues such as degraded performance and extended loading times are common when comparing Denuvo-protected games to their non-Denuvo counterparts (i.e., pirated versions), leading many gamers to hesitate before buying titles that utilize this technology.

This scenario results in legitimate customers receiving a subpar gaming experience while those who exploit piracy enjoy a better product, which is understandably frustrating.

Considering this, there’s nothing stopping Konami from implementing Denuvo in the future. However, the likelihood of this happening seems low. Typically, such measures are introduced at launch to combat potential piracy losses and may later be removed by publishers, as seen with Capcom’s modern Resident Evil series.
