Fans of the Dragon Ball franchise across the globe are eagerly awaiting the release of Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero. While the franchise has launched numerous games over the years, it is the fighting games that have garnered the most acclaim. Sparking Zero is slated for release on October 11, 2024.

A significant concern for the Dragon Ball community revolves around the game’s cross-play functionality. Cross-play allows players to enjoy a game together, even if they are using different gaming platforms. In a recent interview with IGN, producer Jun Furutani shared some insights about the game. When asked about the prospect of cross-play support for Sparking Zero, Furutani acknowledged that enabling this feature is currently challenging. However, he did not rule out the potential for its introduction in future updates.

“The short professional answer is, yeah, there’s a difficulty that we have to go through to get cross-play to work. So yeah, that’s where we stand right now. And as for your question about future, obviously, we don’t know yet, but yeah.”

Despite the absence of cross-play support, Bandai Namco has confirmed that the game will be available on all next-generation consoles. Players can experience the game on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. However, it will not be compatible with PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.

Additionally, it is important to note that the game will lack another critical feature commonly found in fighting games: rollback netcode. This omission could lead to issues such as input delays and gameplay stuttering. Given that Dragon Ball: The Breakers received an update to address similar concerns, players can anticipate possible enhancements for Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero after its release.
