iPhone SE 4 Release Date Update: Not Launching This Month

This year, Apple plans to update its mid-range smartphone lineup with the much-anticipated iPhone SE 4. A notable rumor circulating within tech circles suggests that this model may be rebranded as the iPhone 16E. The excitement surrounding this launch intensified following a leak from a reputable source on the social media platform X, who indicated that both the iPhone SE 4 and the iPad 11 could be unveiled as early as January 2025. According to this insider, referred to as “V59″and “J481”, the devices are poised to debut with iOS 18.3 and iPadOS 18.3.

Contradicting Reports on Launch Timing

However, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg lent a voice of skepticism to this narrative. In a post on the platform Threads, he clarified that while development is indeed progressing alongside the iOS 18.3 updates, this does not confirm a concurrent launch this month. Instead, he suggested that the release could be lined up for sometime before the April launch of iOS 18.4. Initial speculations hinted that the iPhone SE 4 might make its debut by the end of March.

Potential Features of the iPhone SE 4

In addition to updates surrounding the SE model, Gurman hinted that the M4 MacBook Air might also launch before the iPhone SE 4. Supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had previously indicated that mass production for the iPhone SE 4 began in December 2024, further fueling speculation regarding its imminent release.

The iPhone SE 4 is expected to undergo a significant design transformation, resembling that of the iPhone 14. Enhancements could include the replacement of Touch ID with Face ID, integrated into a new bathtub notch design. The device is rumored to sport a 6.1-inch LTPS OLED display, manufactured by LG Display, accompanied by a 12MP TrueDepth front-facing camera.

On the rear, a single 48MP wide camera similar to that of the iPhone 16 may be featured. Additionally, Apple might use an in-house modem, which could help maintain the device’s affordability, potentially keeping the price below $500. Leaked dummy units of the iPhone SE 4 have surfaced, providing further insight into its anticipated design.
