Exciting Updates for Microsoft 365 Apps on iOS
Users of Microsoft 365 apps on their iPhones and iPads will notice a striking transformation in popular applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. This change is a result of Microsoft’s recent rollout of the innovative Liquid Glass redesign, complemented by a fresh set of app icons. In a recent blog update, Microsoft has confirmed that these enhancements are now available to all users across the globe, eliminating the need for participation in the Microsoft 365 Insider program.
Alluring New Design Language
The redesigned icons, which have undergone some changes from earlier previews, are a notable update. However, the real highlight lies in the app’s integration with Apple’s Liquid Glass design language, which was debuted with iOS 16 and iPadOS 16. Users can now enjoy an updated user interface characterized by a new keyboard layout along with a floating toolbar housing tabs like Home, Create, and Browse. The repositioning of the search button to the bottom of the screen is another design choice that aligns with Apple’s recent visual guidelines.

Enhanced Template Filtering Options
The app updates also introduce a new feature for better navigation within templates. When initiating a new document, users can now filter by categories—such as Flyers, Resumes, and Invoices—streamlining the search process significantly. This new categorization eliminates the frustration of scrolling through a long list of templates, making it easier to locate the desired document type quickly.
Availability of Liquid Glass Redesign
The Liquid Glass redesign, along with the new icon set and template filtering feature, is available to users on iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and visionOS 16, starting with app version 2.102 and newer. An official announcement detailing these updates can be found here. Please note that if you are experiencing difficulty accessing Microsoft services, it may be due to a significant Azure outage affecting numerous online services and platforms.
