In the Season 3 premiere, the first villain Mark encounters is Giant, a colossal red titan introduced in Season 2. His unique abilities allow him to withstand significant blows from Invincible, yet his mental state resembles that of a child, adding a layer of complexity to their encounters.

Unlike his role in Season 2 as a straightforward antagonist, Giant’s character arc takes a new direction in Season 3. He is revealed to be working alongside the GDA, with his human parents permitting Cecil to utilize him in training sessions against Invincible. This arrangement leads to some intense training battles held in isolated areas, providing valuable experience for Mark as he gears up for the potential Viltrumite conflict.

While the animated series has yet to explore Giant’s full backstory, the comic books shed light on his origins. According to the comics, Giant was originally a young boy who, at the tender age of seven or eight, fell through a portal to an alternate dimension while with his grandmother. There, they encountered a wizard who cast a spell on the boy, transforming him into Giant—hoping to use him for his own purposes. However, Giant managed to revolt against the wizard and eventually returned to his original dimension.

As a result of this harrowing journey, Giant emerged as a complex character, often wreaking havoc due to his childish tantrums. While he poses a significant threat, his background is laced with tragedy, making him one of the most poignant villains in the Invincible series.
