Authorities have been investigating the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate death of One Direction’s Liam Payne, who tragically fell from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires on October 16. Reports from the Daily Mail indicate that law enforcement is also examining hotel personnel for allegedly providing Payne with illicit substances.
Additionally, two individuals have been charged with trafficking drugs into Liam’s hotel suite prior to his passing. These individuals included a maintenance worker and a staff member. According to the police, they concealed the narcotics in a Dove Soap box, which was later found in Payne’s accommodation.
The substances have been sent for analysis, with authorities suspecting they may include cocaine and crack cocaine. Following the incident, CasaSur hotel management reportedly terminated one of the accused employees after learning of the allegations. A close friend of the deceased artist stated:
“There were two individuals at the hotel providing Liam with drugs. They would send out taxis to pick up packages for him.”
This friend elaborated on the details that raised suspicion among hotel management:
“One of the suspects worked in housekeeping. After Liam’s death, they discovered that a taxi had been dispatched to this person’s home address. When questioned by the hotel manager about the taxi, he couldn’t provide a satisfactory answer and was subsequently dismissed.”
The friend further claimed that Liam Payne was making efforts to remain sober. However, shortly after checking into the hotel, these unidentified men began to entice him with drugs and alcohol. They also mentioned that a drug test was conducted on Tuesday, which showed Liam was clear of any substances.
At this time, hotel representatives have not provided any comments regarding the ongoing investigation.
Drug Testing and Investigations Prior to Liam Payne’s Death
As previously mentioned, a close friend of Liam Payne revealed that the singer was committed to staying sober before his untimely death. Payne had arrived in Argentina on September 30, 2024, to renew his American visa.
According to this friend’s account to The Sun, during his interaction with the US Embassy, his past rehab visits were brought into question. The singer was required to undergo a drug test to validate his sobriety status. The friend remarked:
“The embassy insisted on a thorough investigation, including X-rays and blood tests to check for any traces of drugs.”
A certified medical professional from the US Embassy conducted the examination, and Liam received his results on the day prior to the tragic fall, October 15. The friend continued, pointing out how those who allegedly provided drugs to Liam exploited his vulnerabilities:
“Liam fought so hard to maintain his sobriety, only to be preyed upon. These individuals prioritize profit over the safety of others.”
The Sun also disclosed that a source claimed Liam was provided with drugs shortly after checking into the hotel around 11 PM last Sunday.
However, the source noted that there was no information available regarding the type or quantity of drugs that Liam may have obtained. Meanwhile, law enforcement seems to lean toward the belief that the late singer suffered an episode due to being both intoxicated and under the influence of drugs.
