Samsung has officially unveiled its highly anticipated Galaxy Z Flip 7 during the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event, and the excitement is palpable. A major focus of the keynote was the introduction of new Galaxy AI capabilities integrated across its lineup. However, the spotlight was unquestionably on the revamped foldable device, reflecting Samsung’s commitment to evolving its product range.

Introducing the Galaxy Z Flip 7: Enhanced Battery, Design, and Performance

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is not just a minor update compared to last year’s model; it stands as a significant upgrade. While the Flip FE model offers a budget-friendly alternative, the Z Flip 7 maintains the same price bracket as its predecessor, suggesting a strategic focus on delivering value through quality improvements. Noteworthy refinements in design include flat edges and rounded corners that enhance ergonomics; however, the device is slightly heavier due to an upgraded battery.

Slimmer and more portable, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 boasts a thickness of just 13.7 mm—an impressive reduction from the Z Flip 6. Once unfolded, it measures only 6.9 mm. Despite this sleekness, the phone’s weight sits at 188 grams, making it marginally heavier than the previous iteration. The increased heft is likely attributable to the new, larger battery, thus balancing portability with performance.

The display on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 has undergone a significant upgrade, featuring a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED Flex Window that allows for better multitasking with more space for apps and widgets. The enhanced display is not only larger but also boasts a smoother and brighter viewing experience, thanks to a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 2, 600 nits. The main internal display has increased from 6.7 inches to 6.9 inches, elevating the immersion factor for users. These enhancements position the Z Flip 7 as a formidable competitor against devices like the Motorola Razr Ultra.

Another noteworthy advancement is Samsung’s decision to integrate its Exynos 2500 chipset into the Galaxy Z Flip 7, departing from Qualcomm’s lineup. This marks the first use of a 3nm chipset in a foldable device, which promises enhanced efficiency and performance. Despite the change in processing power, the camera system remains largely unchanged from the Z Flip 6.

Continuing with the previous camera setup, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 incorporates a 50MP wide-angle lens with an f/1.8 aperture and a 12MP ultra-wide lens with an f/2.2 aperture. A fresh addition includes 10-bit HDR video recording capabilities, aimed at improving video quality with superior contrast and vibrant colors. The camera interface has also seen an upgrade with a new Zoom Slider feature, enriching user control when capturing images and videos.

Battery life is another strong suit of the Galaxy Z Flip 7, now equipped with a 4, 300 mAh capacity, making it suitable for extensive daily use. While charging speed remains consistent at 25W, the introduction of Samsung DeX allows users to connect the device to a monitor for a desktop-like experience—something that has been highly awaited for foldables. The Z Flip 7 will be available in two storage configurations: 256GB and 512GB.

In a commitment to longevity, Samsung announced that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will receive seven years of software and security updates. The new One UI 8 introduces features like Now Brief, Now Bar, and Gemini Live, enhancing interactivity and user experience. The device is available for pre-order at $1, 100, with a launch date set for July 25th. Customers can choose from three colors: Blue Shadow, Jet Black, Coral Red, along with an exclusive Mint option available only on Samsung’s website.
