Introducing Microsoft 365 Premium

Microsoft has long provided users with various subscription options for Microsoft 365, tailored to meet differing individual needs. The Microsoft 365 Personal plan caters specifically to solo users, while the Microsoft 365 Family plan accommodates multiple users under one subscription.

New Copilot Pro Subscription

Recently, an innovative addition, the Copilot Pro subscription, was unveiled. This tier is designed to offer subscribers exclusive access to advanced AI capabilities, particularly during peak usage times. Features include elevated usage limits, the integration of Copilot Labs, and access to cutting-edge tools across key applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote.

What’s New with Microsoft 365 Premium

Today marks the launch of a new subscription level—Microsoft 365 Premium. This comprehensive plan amalgamates the robust features of Copilot Pro with the advantages of the Microsoft 365 Family plan, delivering enhanced value to users.

Key Features of Microsoft 365 Premium

The Microsoft 365 Premium subscription includes a plethora of advanced features:

  • Built-in Copilot functionality in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook desktop apps.
  • Access to Researcher and Analyst capabilities, providing intelligent reasoning agents integrated within the Copilot desktop app, with future availability in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Elevated usage limits for premium features such as 4o Image Generation and Voice (coming soon) across various Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Exclusive access to advanced functionalities including Podcasts, Deep Research, Vision, Actions, and a new Photos Agent within the Copilot app.
  • 1 TB of secure cloud storage per user for up to six users.
  • Enhanced security measures via Microsoft Defender.

Subscription Pricing and Transition

Consumers can subscribe to the Microsoft 365 Premium plan for $19.99 per month. Existing users of Microsoft 365 Personal and Family can seamlessly upgrade to this new tier. Earlier this year, Microsoft announced a price increase for these subscriptions, raising the monthly fees from $6.99 (Personal) and $9.99 (Family) to $9.99 and $12.99, respectively, reflecting the growing value of the service.

Transitioning from Copilot Pro

With the introduction of Microsoft 365 Premium, Microsoft is phasing out the Copilot Pro plan. Current Copilot Pro subscribers have the option to transition to the new plan at the same price point, gaining access to enhanced features and functionalities.

Expansion of the Frontier Program

In a related announcement, Microsoft disclosed an expansion of its Frontier program. This initiative, which allows early access to experimental AI features, is now available to individual subscribers. Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, and Premium users will now have the opportunity to explore cutting-edge AI functionalities, including the newly introduced Office Agents.
