ASUS has unveiled its inaugural B850 BTF motherboard, recently identified on the company’s official website. This innovative product showcases a sleek all-white design paired with back-mounted connectors.
ASUS Launches BTF Concept with the B850 Chipset: A Step Towards High-Power GPU Integration
While the connector-less motherboard design remains largely unadopted, it promises a streamlined aesthetic that draws interest from PC enthusiasts. However, this design may lead to compatibility challenges with numerous PC cases, and options are limited in terms of connector-less motherboards across various price points. Despite these challenges, motherboard manufacturers are striving to cater to the niche market of users seeking tidy and visually appealing builds that minimize cable visibility.
ASUS’s BTF initiative isn’t entirely new; the concept was initially introduced but did not extend to AMD’s 800 series motherboards. Previously, ASUS had launched a Z890 BTF model for Intel systems. Although there were plans for AMD X870 and X870E BTF models last year, ASUS chose to debut the B850 chipset BTF motherboard instead.

Presenting the TUF Gaming B850-BTF WiFi W, this motherboard incorporates cutting-edge features while placing all connectors at the rear, enhancing cable management. The real highlight is the High-Power Graphics Card slot located at the front, designed to deliver substantial power without necessitating a dedicated 12-pin connector, effectively supporting high-end graphics cards like the anticipated GeForce RTX 5090.
This innovative slot can provision up to 600W of power for GPUs, yet it is limited to ASUS’s BTF-compatible graphics cards, such as the upcoming RTX 5090 BTF. Currently, only the RTX 4090 BTF is available, leaving enthusiasts eager for the future release of the 5090 edition, which will be fully compatible with this motherboard.

The power management solution for this motherboard features a 12V-2×6 connector located on the back, ensuring efficient power delivery to the high-power GPU slot. Other essential connections, including ATX and EPS connectors, SATA ports, fan headers, and additional miscellaneous ports, are also situated at the back for improved organization.
When analyzing the additional specifications of the TUF Gaming B850-BTF WiFi W, it boasts a robust 14+2+1 power phase VRM equipped with 80A DrMOS. This motherboard supports CPU and memory overclocking capabilities and can handle memory speeds of up to 8000 MT/s when paired with Ryzen’s 9000, 8000, and 7000 series processors.
As of now, details regarding pricing and availability remain under wraps, but the release is expected soon. Previously, speculation suggested that the X870 and X870E BTF motherboards would coincide with the Ryzen 9 9000X3D processors’ launch; however, those CPUs are already available, raising questions about potential announcements in the coming weeks.
