Tom Holland’s Journey with Alcohol Addiction

As reported by The Guardian, the 28-year-old actor openly discussed his battle with alcohol use, revealing he faced increasing consumption issues in December 2021. He shared insights about this personal struggle during his appearance on the podcast, On Purpose with Jay Shetty, in July of the previous year.

Holland expressed candidly that he developed an unhealthy relationship with alcohol, stating:

“I would wake up thinking about it. I was constantly checking the clock to see when it would be acceptable to drink. It genuinely terrified me. I began to wonder if I had a problem with alcohol.”

He detailed his struggle persisted for two additional months, impacting his ability to engage in everyday activities like dining out. Ultimately, Holland made the decision to abstain entirely until June 2022, which catalyzed a significant shift in his well-being. He reflected on this transformation, saying:

“I started sleeping better. My capacity to manage challenges improved. Situations that would have normally frustrated me became easier to handle. My mental clarity was enhanced. I felt healthier and more physically fit, leading me to question my dependency on alcohol and the obsession with it.”

During their discussion, Holland mentioned that he has not experienced cravings for alcohol since and acknowledged the importance of support from friends throughout his sobriety journey. He also noted that he had discovered alternatives, such as electrolyte-infused beer.

Holland’s latest acting role was in the psychological thriller The Crowded Room, which debuted on Apple TV+ in June 2023. Currently, the Uncharted actor has not announced any upcoming projects.
