The singer showcased a sleek black bralette paired with a black and gray cargo jacket. Minimalist jewelry accentuated her ensemble, while the distinct skin-toned alien mask, notable for its large alien-like eyes and dual antennas, stole the spotlight.

“Hey, I am SZA, and I am gonna be on Hot Ones this week,”the artist announced in the video.

This video, featuring the singer Solána Imani Rowe, also known as SZA, has ignited a flurry of reactions on X, with many viewers expressing bewilderment at the unusual disguise choice. One user claimed the woman in the clip was not the Missouri-born artist:

“That is NOT SZA.”

Numerous users on X expressed their dislike for the mask, asserting that Hot Ones is all about showcasing genuine facial expressions, and a mask detracts from the fun.

According to Capital Xtra, in March 2024, SZA indicated that potential leaks could delay the album’s release. It was subsequently disclosed that three tracks from the album—Kill Bill, Snooze, and Blind—were leaked.

In a now-deleted tweet on X, SZA suggested that due to the leak, she will be remaking Lana entirely.

“Let’s keep this simple. Y’all leaked three songs from the deluxe. At this point, feel free to keep the throwaways and leaks. I’ll be starting Lana from scratch. Please do not ask about it again. Thank you,”she tweeted.

In an interview with Variety in August 2023, SZA provided hints about her upcoming album and the significance of its title. The title, Lana, reflects her name, Solána, and it also serves as a reference to her first tattoo, which she got at age 13.

“I added a few tracks. It’s like an entirely new project. It’s called ‘Lana’ — a nod to my name but also the first tattoo I ever got at 13. It cost 10 bucks a letter, and I only had 40, so that became my nickname for no particular reason,”she shared.

Solána Imani Rowe performed one of her tracks from Lana at the 2024 Grammy Awards, yet she has yet to disclose the tracklist or the anticipated release date for Lana.
