Rapper Meek Mill recently took to the social media platform X on September 24, 2024, to announce his willingness to spend $100,000 to recruit a specialized team that can uncover “specific details” related to his name in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ ongoing federal case.
“I wanna hire an investigative team [with] 100k cash to find out every specific detail involving Meek Mill’s name to ‘Diddy’ Case…. I also want them to look at who is powering the media involving ‘Meek’ anything to do with buddy! ‘Something not right,’” the Philadelphia rapper stated.
In light of Meek Mill’s viral tweet where he expressed concern over his name being associated with the Diddy scandal, reactions from the online community have varied widely. For example, X user @quizure commented directly on Mill’s post alongside an image of the rapper at one of Diddy’s alleged pool parties.
“Meek, you’re literally your own star witness,” the user captioned their comment.
Many respondents joined the discussion, reminding Meek that he was partly responsible for his current situation.
“Bro, it’s your antics. It’s you! You’re the one powering that narrative. Now Cashapp me my 100k,” wrote one user.
“Bro, bouta incriminate himself,” commented another.
“This is the tweet you send when you’re guilty of everything,” wrote another user.
Others took a lighter approach, teasing Meek Mill and claiming they already knew the reasons behind his predicament.
“Man, give me the 100k, it doesn’t take an investigator to tell you why this is happening,” a user joked.
“I will take this on, Meek. 50k upfront, another 50k upon deliverables,” another contributor quipped.
“Ohhh, trust and believe there’s already an investigative team on it, so keep your money man,”said one user.
Additionally, some users recommended that the Dreams and Nightmares rapper allocate those funds towards legal representation.
“Let me say what you really mean. ‘I need to hire a lawyer to prepare my defense,’” one follower suggested.
“They already doing that buddy just be patient,”added another follower.
Alongside this tweet, Meek Mill posted a follow-up on X expressing his nonchalance about the “streets,” but highlighting concerns regarding how the rumors connecting his name to Diddy could negatively impact his “business.”
“The streets know wassup with me, that’s not the case… We [are] talking about the business side, somebody powering these bad campaigns with ‘Meek Mill’ again. I got 100k for a thorough investigation of who’s powering and how exactly my name connects to this…” the 37-year-old stated.
Investigating Meek Mill’s Alleged Connection to Diddy’s Case
Sean “Diddy” Combs was apprehended by the FBI on September 16 on three felony charges including racketeering conspiracy, sexual trafficking by force or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution, as detailed in a grand jury indictment.
On the following day, he appeared in Manhattan Federal Court, where he was denied bail after prosecutors described him as a “serious flight risk.” He pled “not guilty” yet was denied bail again. Diddy is currently under suicide watch at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center until his trial begins. If found guilty, he faces a possible sentence of 15 years to life in federal prison.
In the aftermath of Diddy’s arrest, an explicit audio recording featuring Meek Mill and the Bad Boys Records mogul emerged online. Although the authenticity of this recording has not been verified, it sparked considerable attention. Responding to the backlash and inquiries, Meek Mill took to X to defend himself through a series of posts.
In one post, he shared a screen recording of his notifications and captioned it:
“My voice so powerful as a black man from the ghetto worldwide they want it gone! Ima real king straight out the trenches under control of no human… they learned how to damage ‘can’t stop us’ of brands from bots and campaigns like politicians!”
Following this, Meek Mill elaborated that a targeted conspiracy against him was underway, indicating that certain devices were being “manipulated” and emphasized that he was not involved. He also reflected on his humble beginnings and contributions to his community while dismissing rumors regarding his sexuality.
“The two things they say… we snitching or we gay… we generating hundreds of millions from music it’s not a coincidence we all gay and snitches,”the Expensive Pain rapper mocked.
For those who may not know, Meek Mill’s name initially surfaced earlier this year when former videographer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones filed a $30 million sexual harassment and assault lawsuit against Diddy. Although Meek was not directly named in the civil lawsuit, an excerpt from the court documents obtained by XXL Magazine and DJ Akademiks indicated the following:
“Mr. Combs informed Mr. Jones that he engaged in sexual intercourse with rapper [5] (REDACTED), R&B singer [6] (REDACTED), and Stevie J.”
Importantly, footnote number 5 specified, “He is a Philadelphia rapper who dated Nicki Minaj.” Given Meek Mill’s connection to Philadelphia and dating history, speculation arose online regarding his potential indirect mention in the lawsuit. Since then, the Dream Chasers Records founder has firmly denied any allegations.
