DJ Akademiks made headlines when he controversially asked Meek Mill for payment to disclose the identity of the source behind the explosive rumor connecting Mill to Sean “Diddy”Combs, sparking a frenzy on social media. On Saturday, October 5, Akademiks TV posted a tweet alongside a live stream where DJ Akademiks asserted that he had uncovered the person who instigated the gossip about an alleged intimate relationship between Diddy and Mill.
He emphasized his discovery but demanded $100,000 from Meek before revealing the name. This came after Meek Mill had previously tweeted on September 23, offering the same amount to a team of investigators tasked with finding the origin of the rumors. Akademiks TV’s tweet stated:
“Dear Meek Mill, Akademiks and his private investigation team have identified the individual responsible for linking you to Diddy after a thorough two-week investigation. Please send $100,000 to Akademiks’ bank account to uncover the identity of this individual.”
Social media users quickly reacted, many deeming Akademiks’ request as a form of extortion. One user on X, @TheGaychel, humorously pointed out, “This is called extortion, you know that it’s against the law, right? lol.”
This sentiment was echoed by other users who warned the podcaster about potential legal repercussions, suggesting that he should be cautious about his actions. Here are a few notable comments:
“Isn’t this illegal?”asked one user.
“I didn’t know asking for money could be considered extortion 😂,”quipped another.
“Bro, be cautious!! Your words can get you into serious legal trouble. We get it! You’re BIG AK, but don’t mess around,”cautioned one concerned follower.
“By the way, blackmail is a crime,”added another user.
Others poked fun at the situation, speculating that Akademiks might ultimately reveal himself as the source of the rumors.
“If Akademiks gets that $100K just to say it was him 😭😭😭,”joked one user.
“AK is talking about himself 😂,”added another.
“And it just might turn out to be AK himself,”speculated a third user.
Meek Mill previously offered $100,000 for information about Diddy-related rumors
Earlier in February, a former collaborator of Sean “Diddy”Combs, Rodney “Lil Rod Madeit” Jones, filed a sexual assault lawsuit against the music mogul. Within this lawsuit, Jones claimed that Diddy had revealed to him details about engaging in sexual activities with two well-known rappers, whose identities were kept confidential.
Notably, a footnote in the suit suggested that one of these rappers was a Philadelphia artist linked to Nicki Minaj, leading many to speculate that Meek Mill was the individual referenced. Subsequently, in September, explicit audio surfaced online, leading countless social media users to allege that it depicted Diddy and Mill in compromising situations.
Since then, Mill has faced significant online trolling regarding his rumored connections to Diddy. Responding to the backlash, he took to X on September 18, expressing that he believed he was the target of a smear campaign aimed at discrediting him as a “black man from the ghetto worldwide”whose powerful voice posed a threat.
DJ Akademiks’ demand for $100,000 was a direct response to a series of tweets from Meek Mill on September 23, where he offered to hire an investigative team for the same amount to uncover details about the rumors surrounding his name in relation to the “Diddy” case. Meek tweeted:
“I want to hire an investigative team with 100K cash to uncover every detail about why my name is linked to the ‘Diddy’ case. I also want to know who is behind the media narratives concerning me!”
In another tweet, he added:
“The streets are aware of the truth, but we’re talking about the business side. Someone is manipulating these negative narratives with my name involved. I’m offering $100K for a comprehensive investigation into who’s behind this and how my name got entangled.”
Currently, Meek Mill has not responded publicly to DJ Akademiks’ $100,000 demand.
