In an intriguing move for gamers, a notable workaround has allowed users to enable Intel’s Multi-Frame Generation (MFG) feature on the Alchemist series GPUs, specifically the Arc A380, despite the absence of an official driver. This approach involves a straightforward copy-and-paste method that has delivered impressive results.
YouTuber Activates Intel Multi-Frame Generation on Arc A380, Achieves High Frame Rates in Cyberpunk 2077
Intel recently introduced the XeSS3 Multi-Frame Generation feature for its entire line of Arc GPUs, encompassing the first-generation models as well. However, as of now, users of legacy hardware do not have access to an official driver for these advancements. Likewise, the upcoming Arc B series is slated to support XeSS 3 MFG, prompting users to explore various workarounds for their existing Intel graphics units.

Currently, the XeSS 3 MFG feature operates only on Panther Lake GPUs. Nevertheless, resourceful users have managed to activate it on other models, including the Intel Arc B580. Recently, content creator Alva Jonathan demonstrated this with the Arc A380, a budget-friendly GPU that debuted nearly four years ago.

The YouTuber’s testing revealed that the system was indeed powered by the Arc A380. The Intel graphics software provided options for switching between 2x, 3x, and 4x Frame Generation. In his demonstration, he ran Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p with low settings, utilizing XeSS 2 at Ultra Quality. Performance metrics showed frame rates fluctuating between 50-60 FPS. However, upon activating XeSS MFG, these numbers surged to between 130 and 150 FPS.

It’s important to note that enabling 4x Frame Generation introduces a significant input lag, which could hinder gameplay. Moderate ghosting was also reported, though many users found it manageable. At the 3x Frame Generation setting, input lag was reduced significantly, maintaining frame rates around 120 FPS. Given the demanding nature of the game, employing Intel’s MFG makes gaming feasible even with lower-end Intel GPUs.
