Microsoft Pushes Windows 11 Upgrade with New Campaign
Microsoft, alongside its partners, is increasingly emphasizing the transition to Windows 11 as the end of support for Windows 10 approaches. In a recent initiative, Asus published blog posts highlighting the “mandatory Windows 11 upgrade, ”urging users to prepare for the upcoming changes.
Ongoing Promotions from Microsoft
The tech giant has intermittently prompted users to adopt its latest operating system. In February 2024, Microsoft aired an advertisement showcasing the advantages of upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11. Later that year, in June, the company addressed common “myths and misconceptions”regarding the upgrade process. By December, a blog post was released detailing the enhanced gaming features available to users who transition from Windows 10.
The Mixed Messaging of Marketing Campaigns
While it is common for businesses to advertise their products, some of Microsoft’s campaigns have lacked clarity. For instance, a blog post in January 2024 with the title “Free Upgrade to Windows 11 (For a Limited Time Only)”was criticized for providing scant information about the supposed “free upgrade, ”leading to its eventual removal.
Targeting IT Professionals
The latest venture features a new commercial tailored for IT professionals and enterprise users, focusing on the upgrade to Windows 11 Pro from Windows 10. This advertisement followed Microsoft’s recent launch of a backup tool designed for organizational use in conjunction with the upgrade.
Interestingly, the campaign prominently promotes Intel’s vPro processors, omitting any reference to AMD’s Ryzen PRO series, which raises questions about impartiality in product recommendations.
Details of the New Advertisement
The commercial, available on the official Windows YouTube channel under the title “Right Side of Risk | Windows 11 Pro and Intel, ”underscores the urgency of the upgrade. The video description states, “Windows 10 support ends October 14. Stay on the right side of risk—upgrade now to the power of Windows 11 Pro PCs with Intel vPro®.”

AMD’s Position in the Upgrade Discussion
In response, AMD has published a support article entitled “Support Your Customers’ Move to Windows 11, With AMD Ryzen™ PRO Processors, ”available here.
This isn’t the first instance where Microsoft has favored Intel products over AMD. In 2021, a page was created urging users to “look for the Intel EVO badge”on new devices, suggesting that such PCs have been “verified wonderful, ”a phrase that garnered scrutiny.
Similar to the aforementioned upgrade campaign, this page was removed following reports of its odd phrasing and can be accessed through the Wayback Machine.
Future Advertising Strategies
The release of the new commercial just a few days ago hints at the possibility that Microsoft may also be preparing a dedicated advertisement for AMD, ensuring that both companies receive equitable promotional attention.
