Intel Struggles to Exceed 100 CPU Unit Sales as AMD Achieves 12 Times Higher Sales at German Retailer

The competitive landscape between Intel and AMD has reached a new low for Intel, as the performance of its processors continues to lag behind AMD’s offerings. Notably, even AMD’s least sought-after CPUs are outpacing Intel’s top-tier models in sales.

AMD Captures an Impressive 94% of CPU Market Revenue, While Intel Struggles to Compete

The ongoing analysis of CPU market shares reveals a troubling trend for Intel. Once the dominant force in the mainstream CPU market, Intel now finds itself in a precarious position, struggling to make significant sales in the wake of AMD’s rising popularity. Recent data indicates that AMD’s CPUs are selling robustly, even surpassing Intel’s offerings from previous generations.

According to the latest sales figures from Mindfactory, a key player in the CPU market, AMD has maintained its dominant position. In just the past week, AMD sold approximately 1, 725 units, amounting to almost 12 times the sales figures of Intel’s CPUs.

In stark contrast, Intel’s combined sales from its last three generations of CPUs barely reached 150 units. The LGA 1851 processors, like the Core Ultra 200S, are faring poorly compared to earlier models. Specifically, the Raptor Lake series, which previously showed promise, has sold over 100 units, while the newly launched Arrow Lake CPUs managed to sell a mere 20 units, and Alder Lake CPUs sold even less, at only 10 units. Overall, Intel accounted for just 7.51% of the total CPU sales last week, while AMD captured 92.49% of the market.

When it comes to revenue, AMD reported an average selling price of 311 Euros, resulting in an impressive 93.77% share of market revenue. Meanwhile, Intel’s ASP stands at 254 Euros, giving it a mere 6.23% of total revenue. An examination of the top-selling CPUs clearly shows that AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D and 7800X3D lead the pack, while Intel struggles to place any models within the top 20. The only Intel CPU making a slight impact was the Core Ultra 7 265K, with just 20 units sold. Furthermore, 14th-generation Intel CPUs have begun to perform better than some of the newer Arrow Lake models, illustrating a shift in consumer preference towards value-for-money options.

For those following the nuances of CPU market dynamics, these trends underscore a significant challenge for Intel as it navigates an increasingly competitive environment against AMD.
