In a surprising turn of events, Intel has reintroduced one of its processors from the 10th generation, the Core i5-10400, five years after its original launch. This new variant has been relabeled as the Core i5-110, featuring the same specifications as its predecessor.
Intel Revives 10th Gen Core i5-10400 as the Core i5-110
Despite being one of the older mainstream CPU families, Intel’s 12th generation Alder Lake series continues to maintain a presence in the market through the LGA 1700 platform, which remains relevant even in 2025. Users generally gravitate toward newer 13th and 14th generation models; however, the affordability and solid specifications of the 12th generation processors keep them appealing. Intriguingly, Intel has introduced the new Intel Core i5-110 on its official website.

Upon closer examination, it becomes evident that there are no changes in specifications between the Core i5-110 and the i5-10400. Essentially, the Core i5-110 is not an updated model but rather a relabeling of an old architecture, introduced in the third quarter of 2025. Alarmingly, it has yet to appear in retail listings, causing uncertainty about its availability for consumers. Given that the LGA 1200 platform has already been phased out, it seems unlikely anyone would invest $200 in a rebranded 10th generation processor.
For those already equipped with an LGA 1200 motherboard, acquiring the Core i5-110 could be justified, especially if bundled together with a suitable motherboard for around $100. However, absent such circumstances, purchasing this processor appears illogical. This raises an important inquiry: Why is Intel choosing to revive a dormant platform after five years?
