Intel is gearing up for the launch of its highly anticipated Battlemage GPU, codenamed BMG-G31, with the recent addition of support for this powerful graphics unit and four new Device IDs in the Compute Runtime.
Intel Prepares for the Launch of Battlemage “BMG-G31″GPU
The upcoming Battlemage “BMG-G31″GPU builds on the success of its predecessor, the BMG-G21 series. The smaller die variant has already powered various products such as the Arc B580 and Arc B570 gaming cards, along with the latest Arc Pro B60 and B50 models aimed at AI workstations. Now, Intel is moving forward with this larger Battlemage die, which has just seen enhanced support in the Intel Compute Runtime.

As reported by Phoronix, support for the BMG-G31 GPU was integrated into Compute Runtime version 25.27.34303.5. This addition reinforces ongoing development efforts for the larger GPU, which has been in progress for quite some time. According to the latest commit, titled “feature: add support for release 20.2 (BMG G31), ”Intel introduced four new device IDs exclusively associated with the Battlemage BMG-G31 GPU:
- 0xE220
- 0xE221
- 0xE222
- 0xE223

While some device IDs have been circulating for a while, they appear to relate to the BMG-G21 GPU, likely linked to the new Arc Pro models. Initial reports suggest that the BMG-G31 GPU will be equipped with 32 Xe2 cores and maintain a GDDR6 memory interface. It is also expected to utilize a 256-bit bus interface to support up to 16 GB of memory. This represents a 33% increase in core count, which may position the performance of products powered by the BMG-G31 GPU at a similar level to the RTX 5060 Ti and RX 9060 XT, both of which are priced between $350 and $450 in the market.
Though this offering may not cater to the highest echelons of enthusiast or high-performance categories, it presents significant potential. Intel’s Arc B580 12 GB has demonstrated competitiveness at a price point of $249, and a launch price for the BMG-G31 “Battlemage”GPU in the range of $329-$349 could render it an appealing option for consumers.
Should Intel proceed with the release of its top-tier BMG-G31 “Battlemage”GPU die and the associated products, late 2025 has emerged as a plausible launch timeframe.
