Intel’s focus on developing cutting-edge semiconductor technology seems to have been sidelined in favor of more immediate financial gains. For instance, ambitious initiatives like the development of glass substrates have been scrapped under Tan’s directive. Samsung is actively recruiting engineers with expertise in technologies like glass substrates, packaging, and BSPDN as it aims to bolster its foundry operations. Recently, it was reported that a key Intel engineer, who had dedicated nearly 25 years to the company, moved to Samsung after contributing significantly to Intel’s glass substrate projects. This trend of departures reflects broader financial concerns within Intel, sparking anxiety among stakeholders about the company’s long-term viability.

While the effectiveness of Intel’s current strategy remains to be seen, it is clear that rival companies are eager to seize the opportunity to attract top talent from Team Blue.
