Intel Discontinues Free Windows 11 App for PC-Mobile Connections

Intel Unison: The Upcoming Discontinuation of a Unique Application

During the Innovation 2022 event, Intel introduced a novel application called Intel Unison, aimed at creating a seamless connection between PCs and smartphones. Despite its innovative features, Intel has announced plans to discontinue this utility.

Discontinuation Announcement

As confirmed on the Microsoft Store page, Intel Unison will receive no further support after June 2025. The official message reads:

Intel Unison will soon be discontinued. The first step in its wind-down process is ending service for most platforms at the end of June 2025.Lenovo Aura platforms will retain service through 2025.

In a related development, HP addressed this discontinuation in a support article released in February, reinforcing the message:

Important Notice: Intel Unison will be discontinued effective June 30, 2025. After this date, the service will no longer be available.

Features of Intel Unison

If you haven’t yet discovered Intel Unison, it offers a range of impressive features that enhance user experience. For instance, it allows:

  • Control of your tablet via the Universal Control feature.
  • Extension of your PC’s display using a tablet.
  • Making and receiving calls directly from your PC.

System Requirements

To run Intel Unison, users must have Windows 11 version 22H2 (also known as Sun Valley 2) installed, with a minimum hardware requirement of a 12th Gen Core i5 processor. Additionally, it requires:

  • Wi-Fi 6 capability.
  • Bluetooth 5.2 support.

It’s important to note that some features, such as the Universal Control and display extension, necessitate a 13th Gen processor along with the Premium Unison application.

Most devices branded under Intel Evo with 13th Gen processors or newer are expected to come pre-installed with the Intel Unison Premium app at no extra cost. Meanwhile, users can download the standard version for free, provided they meet the necessary system specifications.
