Intel’s latest benchmark results for the Arrow Lake-HX Refresh flagship processor, the Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus, reveal impressive performance metrics that have caught the attention of the tech community.

Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus: A Closer Look at Performance and Specifications

During CES 2026, multiple vendors showcased the forthcoming Intel Arrow Lake-S and Arrow Lake-HX refresh CPUs. However, Intel chose not to showcase any refresh models at the event, instead focusing on the launch of the Panther Lake “Core Ultra Series 3.”When queried about the absence of the Arrow Lake refresh at CES, Intel’s response was vague, urging attendees to “Stay Tuned.”

This hints at a future announcement for the Arrow Lake-S and Arrow Lake-HX Refresh, along with the Core Ultra 200S/HX Plus series. Recent leaks have already hinted at the flagship desktop CPU, the Core Ultra 9 290K Plus. While initial benchmarks left much to be desired, a newly surfaced test showcases significantly enhanced performance.

A Geekbench 6.5.0 result screen displays an Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor in an Acer Predator PHN18-I71 with scores of 3198 for single-core and 21581 for multi-core.

The specifications of the Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus CPU are noteworthy, featuring a configuration of 8 Performance Cores (P-Cores) and 16 Efficiency Cores (E-Cores), culminating in a total of 24 cores and 24 threads. The base clock speed is approximately 3.10 GHz, while the boost clock could exceed the 5.5 GHz threshold of the current flagship, the Core Ultra 9 285HX.

Furthermore, it boasts an L3 cache of 36 MB and an L2 cache of 12 MB, complemented by an integrated 4 Xe iGPU. It’s important to note that the thermal design power (TDP) will be similar to the 285HX, with ratings of 55W at base and 160W under maximum turbo power (MTP).

In terms of performance outcomes, the Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus scored 3198 in single-core and 21, 581 in multi-core tests, as observed in the Acer Predator Helios 18 NEO laptop. This performance parallels that of desktop counterparts like the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Intel’s own Core Ultra 9 285K, which is impressive for a mobile processor.
