The introduction of the Core Ultra 3 series marks a significant advancement in Intel’s processor lineup, notably outpacing previous generations thanks to an increased core count. Recent performance tests reveal that the entry-level Core Ultra 3 205 has outperformed the Core i3 14100, showcasing its robust capabilities.
Core Ultra 3 205 Achieves 13, 394 Points in Cinebench R23 Multi-Core Test – 48% Higher Than i3 14100 and 75% Better in Time Spy Graphics
In a direct performance analysis, the Core Ultra 3 205 demonstrated impressive multi-threaded performance in the Cinebench R23 benchmark, substantially overshadowing the i3 14100. While Geekbench results have hinted at comparable advantages, Cinebench offers a more precise evaluation of CPU capabilities, as highlighted by Korean reviewer Bulls Lab. The results indicate that the Core Ultra 3 205 is nearly 50% quicker in multi-threaded tasks compared to its Core i3 counterpart.

This new processor represents a significant leap over its predecessors, claiming the title of the fastest Intel Core 3 processor to date. It is worth noting that while the i3 14100 operates with four cores and hyperthreading, the Ultra 3 205 incorporates a hybrid architecture, consisting of four Performance cores and four Efficient cores. This innovative design contributes to its enhanced performance.
The Cinebench results clearly illustrate the disparity in processing power. However, the review did not disclose single-threaded performance metrics, which likely would not exhibit such drastic improvements. Nonetheless, the Core Ultra 3 205 is edging closer to the performance metrics of the Core Ultra 5 225, which, despite being the slowest in its series, has a higher core count.
When reviewing integrated graphics performance, the iGPU of the i3 14100 was tested against that of the Core Ultra 3 205. While the i3 features the UHD 730 graphics, the Ultra 3 205 is equipped with a state-of-the-art integrated graphics solution consisting of two Xe architecture-based GPU cores running up to 1800 MHz.

The iGPU performance indicates that the Ultra 3 205 is nearly on par with the Ultra 5 225, showcasing only a fraction of a difference in Time Spy Graphics. In contrast, it delivers an impressive 75% uplift over the UHD Graphics 730. Priced at approximately $120, the Core Ultra 3 205 emerges as an appealing choice for budget-conscious consumers. However, potential buyers may also consider alternatives like the Core i5 14400F, available in the $130-$150 range, which offers 10 cores and 14 threads for enhanced gaming capabilities.
