Intel CFO Confirms Upcoming ‘Arrow Lake Refresh’ CPUs, But Fails to Close Desktop Performance Gap with AMD Ryzen

Intel is poised to launch a refresh of its Arrow Lake CPU series, as revealed by CFO David Zinsner. The refreshed models are anticipated to be released before the arrival of the Nova Lake family, likely by the end of this calendar year.

Intel’s Arrow Lake Refresh CPUs Set for Release: A Final Push Toward LGA 1851

In a conversation with Citi, Intel’s CFO David Zinsner addressed the company’s current challenges in the desktop CPU market, acknowledging the widening competitive gap with AMD. During this discussion, Zinsner confirmed that Intel is working on refreshing the Arrow Lake product lineup:

We still have some work to do on the client side on the portfolio. We have Arrow Lake in the desktop space. There’s another wave of Arrow Lake that we’ll see. But it’s not till Nova Lake that really, I think we have completely addressed that situation.

This announcement marks the first official acknowledgment of an Arrow Lake Refresh lineup, putting to rest earlier speculations and leaks. According to the latest information, Intel aims to enhance both the Arrow Lake-S and Arrow Lake-HX platforms, covering desktop and mobile applications alike. This strategy mirrors the approach taken with the Raptor Lake series, though it is important to note that performance enhancements may be limited to adjustments in clock speeds.

Intel Arrow Lake-S Refresh CPUs Confirmed: Coming To LGA 1851 & 800-Series Motherboard Platforms

The context around Intel’s Arrow Lake CPUs has been challenging, with reports indicating subpar performance. In an effort to regain momentum, Intel has begun integrating features like Adaptive Performance Optimization (APO) and making various adjustments to memory performance. Despite these efforts, customer migration to the Arrow Lake platform has not met expectations, leaving much hope pinned on the upcoming Nova Lake CPUs to truly revitalize the lineup.

As for the expected launch window, the Arrow Lake Refresh CPUs are predicted to make their debut in the fourth quarter of this year. This timing will facilitate the clearance of existing LGA 1851 inventories, allowing a smoother transition to newer, more advanced platforms.
