Intel is gearing up to unveil its next generation of Celestial discrete GPUs, poised to integrate the cutting-edge Xe3P architecture. This development signifies a pivotal shift for the company as it transitions to manufacturing these graphics units in-house, leveraging its own Intel Foundry Services (IFS).
Enhancements in Intel’s Celestial dGPUs: A Leap Beyond Battlemage
Following the successful launch of the Battlemage series, Intel aims to continue advancing its discrete GPU (dGPU) offerings. The Battlemage lineup, particularly the B580 model, received praise as a stellar budget-friendly option, suggesting a strong foundation for Intel’s future endeavors. Insights from @OneRaichu indicate that the forthcoming Celestial dGPUs will showcase remarkable performance enhancements, thanks to the implementation of the enhanced Xe3P architecture, which is reportedly being developed internally by Intel.

Currently, details surrounding the Celestial lineup remain scarce; however, it is confirmed that these GPUs will incorporate the Xe3 architecture, likely the “P”variant, hinting at superior capabilities. Previous mentions of the Xe3P architecture appeared on the LinkedIn profile of an Intel engineer, reinforcing the notion that significant advancements are underway. Notably, this transition also marks Intel’s decision to move away from TSMC for its dGPU fabrication, solidifying its focus on internal production.

Intel has consistently signaled its intent to remain competitive within the desktop GPU market, and the development of Celestial reinforces this commitment. Preliminary evidence, such as support for Xe3 discrete GPUs recorded in HWINFO, suggests ongoing development; however, explicit details about specific models remain elusive. One particular WeU has surfaced, featuring 128 execution units (EUs) or 16 Xe3 cores, which may represent an entry-level option within the Celestial lineup.
While the exact launch date for Intel’s Celestial dGPUs has yet to be confirmed, industry expectations point towards an announcement in the coming months. With Panther Lake expected to debut in the second half of 2025, it is plausible that Celestial could be released by late 2025 or early 2026.
