Evidence strongly points to Intel’s development of the Xe2, Battlemage-based BMG-G31 chip, which has surfaced online multiple times. Recently, a Linux boot log revealed that this GPU is expected to feature 16 GB of VRAM, likely corresponding to the anticipated Arc B770 variant. While a new leak has emerged, it’s wise to approach the information cautiously as it lacks the endorsement of a well-known source.

The leaker known as @GOKForFree has shared insights from a Graphics Driver INF file, indicating that the BMG-G31 will be implemented across four models: three targeted at professional users and one for consumers. This development suggests that Intel is indeed crafting a more powerful GPU compared to the Arc B580, which is anchored by the lesser BMG-G21 die. Additionally, the leak references both Nova Lake and Nova Lake S, components scheduled for release next year.

Using the prior naming conventions, the BMG-G31 could very well be the long-speculated Arc B770. Despite months of anticipation surrounding the Arc B770, reliable information about its official launch remains elusive. Notably, the Arc B580 has been available for nearly ten months, while competitors AMD and NVIDIA have rolled out nearly their entire latest-generation portfolios. It appears unlikely that Intel will unveil the Arc B770 before CES, although this remains speculative.

The emergence of the Battlemage family with a competent mid-range GPU is promising, yet its timing may be too late, as the market is already saturated with superior alternatives. The Arc B770 has the potential to compete against offerings like the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB and Radeon RX 9060 XT 16 GB, especially with its 16 GB of memory and approximately 1.6 times the core count of the Arc B580. A competitive price point of $350 or lower would make it a viable option for 1440p gaming; however, it must outperform the RX 9060 XT at this price to attract eager gamers.
