Intel Battlemage BMG-G31 Appears in Linux Boot Log; Equipped with 16 GB VRAM, Suggesting Arc B770 Graphics Card

Recent leaks have unveiled details about the upcoming Intel Battlemage discrete GPU, rumored to boast a substantial 16 GB VRAM capacity. This is likely attributed to the model B770, as it shares the same PCI-ID previously identified.

Battlemage GPU Identified: PCI ID “E221″and 16 GB VRAM for Arc “B770”

The cascade of leaks surrounding Intel’s Battlemage GPU continues, providing insights into its specifications. Recently, the BMG-G31 was detected in an NBD Shipping manifest and recognized in Compute Runtime, linked to its PCI IDs. This latest information confirms that one of these IDs will feature a 16 GB VRAM capacity, pointing towards the B770.

As highlighted by @GawroskiT, the Linux Boot Log revealed the GPU’s PCI ID “E221.”This aligns with four other PCI IDs captured in theCompute Runtime back in July, indicating it belongs to a variant of the BMG-G31, likely confirming its identification as the Arc B770. Although the official naming remains unverified, the B770 is expected to succeed the A770 and features enhanced performance over the existing Arc B580, which is equipped with a BMG-G21 die and 12 GB of VRAM.

The introduction of 16 GB of VRAM suggests the GPU will utilize a 256-bit memory bus. According to various sources, the B770 is anticipated to contain 32 Xe2 cores. For comparison, the current most powerful Arc Battlemage GPU, the B580, is outfitted with 20 Xe2 cores. This positions the B770 as a notable upgrade, aimed at delivering optimal performance for 1440p gaming. However, specific details regarding its final specifications and release timelines remain scarce, as Intel has yet to provide substantial updates.

Speculation suggests that we may see the GPU launched by the end of this year, potentially making it one of the first Intel discrete GPUs to be featured in laptops.
